Tape transport display When you start tape playback, the transport display indicates the tape movement. Beforeturningthe ignitionoff Be sure to eject any cassette from the unit before turning the ignition off. Switching modes When the unit is in Radio or CD Changer Play mode, inserting a cassette switches the unit to Tape Play mode automatically. To prevent tape problems Before inserting a cassette into the unit, make surethatthereisnoslackinthetape. Ifnecessary, take up the slack by inserting a pencil into the spindle hole and winding. Tapes of 90 minutes or longer are extremely thin and easily deformed or damaged. They are not recommended. MS 00MTL BL REW FF To play tapes recorded with Dolby B NR Press DD (the Dolby NR button) when playing a tape recorded in this mode, The “on B indicator lights up. Press this button again to cancel this mode. Note If a tape recorded without Dolby B NR is played back in Dolby B NR mode, the sound will not be reproduced properly, To play metal tapes Press MTL (metal) when playing a metal or CrO, tape. The “MTL” indicator lights up. Press this button again to cancel this mode. 11 ENGLISH Note If you play a normal tape in Metal mode, the sound will not be reproduced properly. Music sensor function By using this function, you can fast-forward or rewind the tape to the beginning of the next or current track, from which the tape playback will resume automatically. 1. Press MS to stand by for the music sensor function. The “MS” indication appears. 2. To search for the beginning of the next track, press FF. To search for the beginning of the current track, press REW. The “MS” indication flashes during scaning. To cancel this function, press MS again. Note There must beat least a 4-second blank between the tracks for this function to be activated correctly. Blank skip function By using this function, when the unit detects a blank portion longer than 12 seconds between tracks, it automatically fast forwards the tape to the beginning of the next track. Press BL to activate this function. The “BL” indication appears. The indication flashes during scanning the next track. To cancel this function, press BL again. l If the end of the tape is reached during fast- forwarding, the unit switches to the other side of the tape and continues fast-forwarding.
