When the unit receives a call, the display will light and remain lit until the calls are retrieved. This unit is supplied with 8 greetings. Six have default greetings that can be recorded over. It is recommended that you use Greeting 1 for general callers. Use Greetings 2 through 5 for custom messages. For example: Greeting 1: “Sorry I can’t take your call right now. But if you leave your name and number after the beep, I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.” Greeting 2: “Hi Mom. I’m out shopping with Cindy right now. I should be back by six. Let me know what time lunch is tomorrow.” Greeting 3: “Hi Shaun. Our dinner reservations are at 8, so I’ll pick you up at 7:30. See you soon.” Greeting 4: “Hey Gena. I thought of the best present for Dad’s birthday! Let me know when you’ll be home and I’ll call you back.” Greeting 5: “Hi Dawn. Sally’s recital got cancelled, so I won’t be able to go to lunch on Thursday. Let me know what day will be good for you next week.” RECORDING GREETINGS 1. Press SETTINGS. 2. Use SCROLL UP or DOWN to select Greetings. 3. Press SELECT. 4. Use SCROLL UP or DOWN to select a greeting. PLAY/RE-RECORD: GREETING 1 GREETING 2 DEFAULT GREETINGS: Greeting 1: “Please leave your message after the tone.” Greeting 2: “Please leave your message after the tone.” Greeting 3: “Please leave your message after the tone.” Greeting 4: “Please leave your message after the tone.” Greeting 5: “Please leave your message after the tone.” Greeting 6: “Please leave your message after the tone or unblock your call and try again.” Greeting 7: “Your blocked call is not accepted.” Greeting 8: “Your call is not accepted.” 5. Press SELECT to accept your choice. 6. Press and hold MEMO/REC. Start speaking after the beep. 7. Speak within 8 inches from the MIC. 8. Release MEMO/REC when you finish speaking. The unit will playback the greeting for confirmation. CHECKING GREETINGS 1. Use SCROLL UP or DOWN to select the greeting you want to hear. 2. Tap PLAY/STOP to start greeting playback. 3. Tap PLAY/STOP again to stop playback. ERASING GREETINGS 1. Select the greeting. 2. Press ERASE. The unit plays the default greeting for confirmation of erasure. PLAYING MESSAGES The unit will show the number of total messages or new messages in the display. It also shows the message number, date and time information, caller ID name and number for each message when available. BUTTONS AND CONTROLS PLAY/STOP - tap to hear all messages; to hear only new messages, press and wait for beep, then release. REVIEW - tap to stop playback and start message from the beginning again; press to reverse through previous messages SKIP - tap to stop playback of current message and start playback of next message; press to advance quickly through next messages. ERASE MSG - tap during playback to erase the current message. The unit will stop playback and may ask you to confirm your decision. After you have selected the messages to be erased and have reached the last message, the unit will display “Erasing selected message(s).....Please wait...” To Erase All Old Messages: Press ERASE MSG while the unit is in Idle mode. The unit confirms your decision, updates message count and displays “Erasing selected message(s).... Please wait....” It may take up to 17 minutes in the worst case for the unit to complete this task before it is ready for other operations. During this task the unit is silent and will not respond to any key or incoming call. After new messages have been played, the display will show the total number of messages in memory. AUTO DISCONNECT The unit will automatically stop recording when any phone extension is picked up. The message recorded prior to this action will be kept and will increase the message counter on the display. AUTO TIME/DAY STAMP The unit will record the day, date and time of each call. It will be shown in the display when accessing messages from home, but will be voiced during remote access. RECORD NEW/PLAY: MAILBOX MEMO MEMORY FULL When the memory is full, the message light will flash rapidly and the display will show “Msg. Memory Full.” The unit will answer all calls on the 11th ring and announce that memory is full, but no message will be taken. The unit will prompt the caller for a security code, but if none is entered it will disconnect the line. ANSWER OFF If the unit is in the Answer Off mode, it will answer all calls after the 11th ring. It will announce to the caller that the “answering functions are now off” and prompt “please enter security code.” If no code is entered, the unit disconnects the line. RECORDING A MEMO You can leave a memo in the mailbox directly with the unit. 1. Press MEMO/REC. 2. Use SCROLL UP or DOWN to select “Mailbox memo”. 3. Press and hold MEMO/REC. Start speaking after the beep. 4. Speak within 8 inches from the MIC. 5. Release MEMO/REC when you finish speaking. 6.
