Shooting Using the Flash You can shoot images with a flash by raising the built-in flash. You can set the flash mode to match the shooting conditions. 1 Press the m (flash pop-up) button to raise the flash. • When the flash is lowered, flash operation is disabled and S is displayed. 2 Press the multi selector H(m). 3 Select the desired flash mode (A57) and press the k button. • If a setting is not applied by pressing the k button within a few seconds, the selection will be canceled. Auto Shooting Features B The Flash Lamp The status of the flash can be confirmed by pressing the shutter-release button halfway. • On: The flash fires when you press the shutter- release button all the way down. • Flashing: The flash is charging. The camera cannot shoot images. • Off: The flash does not fire when an image is taken. Available Flash Modes U Auto The flash fires when necessary, such as in dim lighting. • The flash mode indicator is only displayed immediately after setting in the shooting screen. V Auto with red-eye reduction/Red-eye reduction Reduce red-eye in portraits caused by the flash (A58). • When Red-eye reduction is selected, the flash fires whenever an image is taken. X Fill flash/Standard flash The flash fires whenever an image is taken. Y Slow sync Suited to evening and night portraits that include background scenery.
