troubleshooting This chapter summarises the most common problems you could encounter with the appliance. If you are unable to solve the problem with the information below, contact the Customer Care Centre in your countr y. Problem Possible cause Solution The fried food does not have a golden brown colour and/or is not crispy. The oil or fat is not clean anymore. Change the oil or fat. Remember to reset the ReFresh button after that. See chapter ‘Using the appliance’, section ‘ReFresh indication’. There is too much food in the basket. Do not fr y more food at one time than the quantities mentioned in the food table at the end of this booklet. The thermal safety cut-out has switched off the appliance. Let the oil or fat cool down and carefully press the reset button at the front of the fr yer (see chapter ‘Safety’). The fr yer gives off a strong unpleasant smell. The Active Air Control system does not work properly. The fan does not work. Go to your Philips dealer or a ser vice centre authorised by Philips. The type of oil or fat used is not suitable for deep fr ying food. Use fr ying oil or liquid fr ying fat of good quality. Never mix different types of oil or fat. A lot of steam escapes from the fr yer. The lid has not been closed properly. Check whether the lid has been closed properly. The Active Air Control system does not work properly. The fan does not work. Go to your Philips dealer or a ser vice centre authorised by Philips. The sealing ring around the inside of the lid is dir ty or worn. If the ring is dir ty, clean the lid in hot water with some washing-up liquid or in the dishwasher. If the lid is worn, go to your Philips dealer or a ser vice centre authorised by Philips to have the sealing ring replaced. The water There is too much water Always empty the water reser voir after you reser voir leaks. in the reser voir. have used the fr yer. If you are fr ying large quantities, empty the water reser voir after fr ying 1.6kg of frozen French fries or when the maximum water level has been reached. 1 EnglisH Problem Possible cause Solution The water reser voir has not been inser ted properly. Check whether the water reser voir has been inser ted properly (you hear a click). The PreClean function cannot be activated. More than 30 seconds elapsed between the moment you switched on the appliance and the moment you pressed the PreClean button. In this case, the PreClean function is not activated. Carefully press the reset button at the front of the fr yer (see chapter ‘Safety’). If the fr yer still does not work, go to your Philips dealer or a ser vice centre authorised by Philips.
