Keep vent slots clean. Make a periodic visual check of pilot and burner flame to ensure proper operation. The pilot flame will extend beyond the thermocouple wrapping around it just under the tip. If yellow in color instead of blue, cleaning may be required. The burner should have a bright orange glow with a slight blue color around the border without any noticeable flame. A blue flame at the top of the ceramic tile is indicated excessive dust, dirt or spider webs inside the steel casing and/or reflector assembly, and means that cleaning is probably necessary.
