You can remove the water tank to fill it directly under the tap. -Do not use the jug without its lid. -A drip prevention valve means you can remove the jug during coffee-making. -The jug is equipped with a removable impact and heat protective skirt to protect your work surface from the heat, so you can place the jug on it. -The coffee maker is supplied with a permanent filter (for UK only). This can be used instead of a paper filter (shown in the diagram). Do not use a paper filter and permanent filter together as this may cause an overflow of coffee out of the filter holder.. -Once the coffee has filtered through, we recommend that you allow it to stand on the hot plate for 5 minutes before drinking. -Note: cold milk straight from a refrigerator will decrease the temperature of the coffee. CLEANING (illustrations 13 to 16) -Unplug and leave to cool before cleaning. Do not clean the appliance when it is hot. -Once the appliance has cooled down, you can clean it with a damp cloth. -You can clean the removable parts in the dishwasher. -The jug and its impact and heat protective skirt are microwave compatible. -Do not immerse the coffee-maker in water. -Wash the permanent filter after each use. DESCALING De-scale your coffee-maker about once a month. If you use a commercial descaling powder or liquid, follow the instructions provided by the product manufacturer If you use clear spirit vinegar: -Mix 2 cupfuls of vinegar with 2 cupfuls of water. -Pour the cold descaling solution into the water tank. -Place a paper filter (or permanent filter) in the filter-holder. -Position the jug equipped with its lid. - Start up the coffee-maker. -Stop the appliance once half the solution has run through and leave for an hour. -Start up the coffee-maker again and let the solution run through. -After descaling, the appliance must be rinsed at least 2 or 3 times with fresh water to rinse out the appliance. The guarantee does not cover scaling of coffee- makers. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS -Before switching on the appliance, check that your mains voltage corresponds to that printed on the underside ` of the appliance and that your supply socket includes an earth. -Keep out of the reach of children. -Disconnect the appliance every time you clean it. -Do not let the supply cord hang free. -Do not use the appliance if the plug, the cord or the appliance itself shows signs of damage. -If the power supply cable is damaged, it must be replaced by an authorised service centre. -Only use an extension of suitable rating and if it is in perfect condition. -Do not immerse the appliance, plug or cord in water. -This appliance complies with the applicable technical rules and standards. -You cannot open the appliance without using a special tool. Important : the wires in this lead are coloured in accordance with the following codes: Green and Ye l l o w : earth B r o w n : live B l u e : neutral . Connect the green/yellow wire to the terminal in the plug marked OEO or by the earth symbol or coloured green or coloured green and yellow. . Connect the brown wire to the terminal in the plug marked OLO or coloured red. . Connect the blue wire to the terminal in the plug marked ONO or coloured black. . A 13 amp fuse should be fitted when the appliance is connected to a BS 1363 A plug. . Seek professional advice if unsure of the correct procedure for the above. . Important : if the electrical cord of this appliance is damaged or shows signs of wear, it must only be replaced by an authorised Tefal Service Centre (see section After Sales Service). About your factory fitted plug (supplied with certain models only) . The cord is already fitted with a plug incorporating an appropriate fuse. If the plug does not fit your socket outlet, see paragraph below. S h o u l d you need to replace the fuse in the plug supplied an appropriately rated approved BS 1362 fuse must be used (refer to wiring instructions specification for fuse rating). If the plug supplied does not fit your socket outlet, it should be removed from the mains lead and disposed of safety. The flexible cord insulation should be stripped back as appropriate and a suitable alternative plug fitted. . If the plug has external access to the fuse (non-rewirable type plug) please note that the fuse cover is an important part of the plug. Please ensure that it is always refitted correctly.
