VOLUME buttons - for setting the volume level 2. Function selector - to choose the audio source: MP3/CD, TAPE or RADIO, and also to turn off the power. 3. Headphones jack - 3.5 mm jack for stereo headphones 4. CD compartment lid 5. Cassette deck control buttons PAUSE (II) - temporarily stops recording and playback. STOP/EJECT (B±) -stops playback/recording -opens the cassette deck F.FWD (W) - fast forward F.REW(« ) - fast rewind PLAY( ►) - begin playback RECORD (•)- begin recording 6. Cassette deck cover press the stop/open button to open/close the deck 7. Radio band selector (FM ST FM AM) - for choosing the radio band (FM ST./FM/AM) 8. TUNING dial - for tuning FM/AM radio frequencies 9. BACK button (I«) -to return to the beginning of the previous track. 10. PLAY/PAUSE ( Ml) button - start/pause playback of a CD/MP3 disc 11. NEXT button (►►!) - skip to the beginning of the next track 12. STOP (a)button -for stopping MP3/CD playback 13. PROG, button - for programming playback of CD/MP3 tracks 14. FOLDER DN button - to move one folder/album down 15. FOLDER UP button - to move one folder/album up 16. LCD display - shows information regarding the CD/MP3 disc playback 17. Built in microphone Power Supply Using AC Power 1. Check if the power voltage, as shown on the type plate located on the bottom of the set, corresponds to your local AC power supply. If it does not, consult your dealer or service centre. 2. Connect the power cord to the AC MAINS inlet and the wall outlet. The power supply is now connected and ready for use. 3. To switch off completely, unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet to protect your set during heavy thunderstorms. Batteries (not included) Open the battery compartment and insert eight batteries, type R-14, UM-2or C-cells, (preferably Alkaline) with the correct polarity as indicated by the "+" and symbols inside the compartment. Batteries contains chemical substances, so they should be disposed of properly. Incorrect use of batteries can cause electrolyte leakage and will corrode the compartment or cause the batteries to burst. Therefore: • Do not mix battery types: e.g. alkaline with carbon Zinc. Only use batteries of the same type for the set. • When inserting new batteries, do not try to mix old batteries with new ones. • Remove the batteries if the set is not be used for a long time. 5 3453.qxd 24.05.05 15:00 Page 6 ENGLISH BASIC FUNCTION Switching power on/off: Save energy Whether you are using mains or battery supply, to avoid unnecessary energy consumption always adjust the source selector to off. General operation 1. To select your sound source adjust the source selector to MP3.CD/TAPE(OFF)/RADIO. 2. Adjust the sound with the VOLUME. 3. To switch off the set, adjust the source selector to TAPE (OFF) position. RADIO Radio reception 1. Slide the FUNCTION selector to RADIO. 2. Slide the BAND selector to a desired setting -FMST./FM or AM. 3. Rotate the TUNING control to find the desired stations. NOTE: If the BAND selector is set to the FM stereo position and you have tuned to an FM stereo station, the FM stereo LED indicator will light. 4. When you have finished listening, slide the FUNCTION selector to the TAPE(OFF) position to shut the power off. • For FM, pull out the telescopic antenna. Incline and turn the antenna. Reduce its length if the signal is too strong (very close to a transmitter). • For AM, the set is provided with a built-in antenna so the telescopic antenna is not needed. Direct the antenna by turning the whole set. PLAYING A CASSETTE 1. Select TAPE source. 2. Press STOP/EJECT ( «4 ) to open the cassette door. 3. Insert a recorded cassette and close the cassette door. 4. Press PLAY to start playback. 5. To interrupt playback, press PAUSE. To resume, press the key again. 6. By pressing ( * ) or (►►) on the set, fast winding of the tape is possible in both directions. 7. To stop the tape, press STOP/EJECT ( ).
