Its discrete circuitry and full shielding offers wide dynamic rangeand ultra-low noise operation (-70 dB). CONTROL OPERATION 1. 2. 3. 5. 6. Blend Control. The Blend Control is offered for a wider variety of sounds than available from conventional pickup selector switches. It may be varied from the neck pickup (full clockwise - CW) to the center detent (both pickups) to the bridge pickup (full counterclockwise - CCW) or any blend in between. Due to the nature of this control, neither pickup is turned fully off. Volume Control. This control is conventional with full output in the CW position and no output in the CCW position. Low Control. The Low Control is centered at 50 Hz and offers +8 dB boost (CW) and -8 dB cut (CCW). Mid Control. A Mid Control has been included and is of the peak/notch variety. This control operates from 100 Hz to 2 kHz with notch centers at 300 Hz (CCW) and 1.5 kHz (CW). Some interaction with the Lowand High controls will be noticed at either extreme of the Mid Control’s operation. High Control. The High Control is centered at 2.5 kHz and has +12 dB boost (CW) and -12 dB cut (CCW). Bypass Switch. The Bypass Switch is a two-position mini-toggle located on the face of the instrument. Its purpose is to allow the player to convienently switch to the passive mode in the event of battery malfunction or failure. The up position of the switch is passive / and bypasses the internal preamp. This allows normal (passive) operation of the Dyna-Bass. In the passive mode, the Volume and Blend controls are operational and the High Control is converted to a standard high rolloff tone control. NOTE: If the Bypass Switch is operated when signal is present, an audible "pop" may occur. This is due to the rapid change in signal level sent to the input of the bass guitar amplifier. The down position is active and engages the Dyna-Bass preamp with its active tone controls. 7. Preamp Input Control. This is a screwdriver adjusted control and is accessible through a small hole in the control cover plate on the back of the Dyna-Bass. This control sets the amount of signal gain available, and should be adjusted so the Dyna-Bass will not overdrive or distort the input of your bass guitar amplifier. Clockwise adjustments increase the outputs and counterclockwise adjustments decrease the output. Those who have a heavy picking style or who play heavy "pop” bass may need to use the Low Gain or #2 Input on their bass amplifier. 8. Battery. The Dyna-Bass preamplifier is powered by a 9 volt transistor radio battery (not included) which is accessible after the control cover plate has been removed from the back of the instrument. NOTE: Heavy duty or alkaline batteries are recommended for reliability and longest battery life. Low battery voltage will be indicated by fuzzy or distorted sound, especially with higher tone and volume settings. It is recommended the battery be changed every 80 to 100 hrs. of use, or every 6 months, to help ensure a battery doesn't leak and damage the instrument. NOTE: Pea-vey Electronics assumes no responsibility for damage resulting from a leaking or defective battery. Power is supplied to the preamp when a standard (mono) guitar cable is plugged into the instrument; a stereo cable will not work. It is recommended that the cable first be plugged into the Dyna-Bass, then into the bass amplifier input. To ensure longest battery life, be sure to unplug the cable from the Dyna-Bass when not in use. Adjustments: Your instrument has been carefully adjusted for accurate intonation and playing ease at the Peavey factory. However, your playing style or playing requirements may necessitate additional adjustments at sometime in the future. These adjustments should be made by your Peavey dealer. However, with a little care and by adhering closely to the following instructions, you may attempt these adjustments yourself. CAUTION: PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE INSTRUC-TIONSTHOROUGHLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY ADJUSTMENTS! Adjusting Torsion Rod: To set the "straightness" or "relief of the neck, a Peavey torsion rod wrench No. 75031001 must be used (available from a Peavey Accessory Center). 1. Tune the instrument to standard (A-440) pitch. 2. Check for clearance between the strings (1 through 4) and the first fret. IMPORTANT: Use an accurate ruler or similar gauge for this measurement 3.
