The neck of the instrument also employs four "Mini" die-cast machine heads (22:1 ratio), and a durable Graphlon™ topnut. The neck is secured to the body with four screws for maximum stability through a solid steel neck plate which features our neck-tilt adjustment. (See Adjustments: Neck Tilt for instructions.) A special forearm and rib cage relief contour allows weight reduction, proper balance, and maximum playing ease. The instrument features our polyester/urethane finish which is mar and weather resistant. Pickups: (B-Ninety Passive) The instrument's two split-coil, Alnico loaded humbucking pickups provide high output and wide frequency response. IWHMI uni III nan mi Pickups (B-Ninety Active) If you have purchased the B-Ninety Active Bass, it comes fitted with two very special BI-FET surface-mounted active pickups to enable you to explore sounds never before available outside the recording studio. Because these pickups contain active circuitry, they are powered by a 9 volt battery (Peavey battery type #05013). This battery is not included with the B-Ninety Active. We recommend replacement every 1000 hours of operation. If this instrument develops a fuzzy sound or has low output, the battery should be changed To replace the battery, simply remove the retaining screws from the control panel cover at the rear of the body, remove the old battery, and replace it, the cover, and the screws. There are no other user serviceable parts contained inside this instrument. If problems occur, take your instrument to a local Peavey dealer or authorized service agent for servicing, as tampering may void your warranty. The B-Ninety Active and the B-Ninety Passive Bass share the same controls. The pickups may be used singly or in unison and are controlled by individual volume controls and one master tone control. Each volume control is tone compensated to minimize high frequency loss at low volumes. Humbucking mode is retained when one or both pickups are on. Bridge The bridge of the B-Ninety is constructed from black, chrome-plated, 13 gauge steel and is securely bolted to the body at five points. The four "barrel-type" string saddles are made from heavy-duty steel for maximum sustain and string stability, and are fully adjustable for string height, tilt, and intonation/compensation (see Adjustments: Height and Intonation for instructions). B-Ninety Active is fitted with milled brass bridge with saddle tracks. Controls 1. Volume Controls: Volume controls for each pickup (neck and bridge) operate independently. Rotating the control knobs clockwise will increase volume; rotating counterclockwise will reduce volume. When both pickups are at maximum volume settings. they are combined to give the noise-free operation and fullness of one humbucking pickup. 2. Tone Control: The tone control operates as a master control. Rotating clockwise will result in more treble (high frequencies) and a brighter tonality. Rotating counterclockwise will result in less treble and a "bassier-type” sound. 3. Output Jack: The output jack is a genuine Switchcraft Va" phone jack which accepts standard guitar patch cords. (We recommend high quality shielded patch cords.) 4. Pickups: The volume level of the pickups can be adjusted by raising or lowering each pickup with its height adjustment screws. Raising the pickup closer to the strings will increase the output and volume. Lowe...
