Also the arpeggio can be sustained with the use of the Sustain Mode. This will keep the arpeggio going even after you let go off the keys. Use the SPLIT SWITCH and the arpeggio will play from below the middle C sound range. This lets you play the melody in the upper half of the keyboard and use the auto-arpeggio at as accompaniment. There are four types of tones: Piano I, II. Harpsichord I, II. Various combinations of sounds can be made by pressing more than one button at the same time. A 2W output speaker is built-in. BEFORE STARTING • Power supply indicated on the name plate must be used. In case that the power supply in your district is different from it, it must be adjusted, using the voltage regulator. • Because it is operated by AC power, this instrument may sometimes generate a little heat. This, however is not a sign of machine failure. NOTES • Keep away from interferences that induce high levels of noise, such as flour-escent lamps, neon lights and transformers as much as possible. • Avoid the use of this instrument in places that are dusty, of high temperature or high humidity. • Clean the control panel with neutral detergent. Use a soft, dry cloth for the wooden parts. Do not use Solvents such as paint thinner. Control the volume with the Volume Knob. After making the necessary connections, turn down the volume © and turn on the power © . •With the power on, the pilot lamp and the LED of PIANO I of the TONE SELECTOR ® will light up. 2. Adjust the volume © . •If the EP-09 is connected to an amplifier, adjust the amplifier volume as well. 3. Choose a tone or a combination of tones with the TONE SELECTOR®. ■ PIANO 1...soft piano tone 11...hard piano tone ■ HARPSICHORD 1...0.thodox harpsichord tone 11...a bright harpsichord tone • More than one tone can be mixed. The LED of the tones that are selected will light up. ♦The pitch is adjusted with TUNE©. Turning it to the right (O ) will raise the pitch. (±50 cent). SUSTAIN * Setting position for the sustain effect Set the SUSTAIN MODE SWITCH ©to I or II and set the sustain time with TIME. ♦TIME© will determine how long a note will fade out after a key is released when SUSTAIN is on. When SUSTAIN is off, TIME will determine how long it will take for a note to fade out while a key is being pressed. For a percussive sound, lower the slider, For an organ-type sound, raise the slider. ♦For a sustain effect, the MODE switch should be set according to whether a pedal switch is used or the arpeggio switch is on or off. ♦Playing the same key with SUSTAIN on may make it sound like the tone color change periodically or the pitch has shifted by an octave. SUSTAIN MODE I OFF II Pedal switch ON or no connections made with it SUSTAIN ON OFF SUSTAIN ON Pedal switch OFF OFF OFF ON (Ar£f°) OFF (Al£|f) - • ASSIGNING THE MODE *A chord made of up to eight notes be played on the EP-09. If more than eight notes are played, only eight notes according to a priority ranking will remain. Mode Switch I (or the OFF position) will pick the last eight notes that were played. The notes played before these eight notes will be erased. \ Mode II will always keep one note within the lowest two octave range. Mode II is convenient when you want to keep the bass sound with a pedal switch while playing the keyboards. V_;_/ THE ARPEGGIO Turn on the ARPEGGIO SWITCH ©. The LED will light up. The type of arpeggio to be used is set by adjusting the RANGE© and MODE ©.The speed of the arpeggio is adjusted with RATE @. ♦Various arpeggio patterns can be created with how RANGE © and MODE © are combined. ♦The arpeggio will continue to play while the keys are being pressed, excluding “HOLD”. When playing a chord to start an arpeggio, make sure every note of the chord is pressed at the same time. ♦To start an arpeggio from the beginning turn on the ARPEGGIO first before pressing the keys. ♦The range of the arpeggio of the EP-09 will go as far as the pitch of the highest sound range of the keyboard. If the RANGE switch is set to either 2 oct or 3 oct and the arpeggio has reached the limit of the highest sound range, the arpeggio will repeat itself at the highest point. ♦The arpeggio may be cut off if the ARPEGGIO MODE SWITCH is either at the UP/DOWN or DOWN position when the ARPEG...
