When the switch lever is pushed upward, tape moves to activate echo function and when it is pushed downward, tape stops and echo does not function. When echo is not necessary, the switch lever should be pushed downward in order to assure long lives of head and tape. When playing, it is very convenient to use Foot Switch for echo ON/OFF control. POWER SWITCH Can be used also for grounding. When the lever position is either up or down, power is ON, but when it is at the center, power is OFF. When excessive hum is generated or static electricity affects microphone or other instruments, change the lever position to opposite side. HEAD ; A dirty head may result in distorted tone quality and may cause damage to the tape. It should be cleaned by using a cleaner rod or soft cloth wfith alcohol. Be sure not to bring a magnetized screwdriver near head because it may magnetize the head and cause noise generation. Warning, the head is precisely adjusted, therefore, do not jjress it with a strong force."
