Replace the keyboard (see Replacing the Keyboard). 6. Replace the memory module(s) (see Replacing the Memory Module(s)). 7. Replace the module cover (see Replacing the Module Cover). 8. Follow the instructions from step 4 to step 5 in Replacing the Optical Drive. 9. Replace the battery (see Replacing the Battery). Back to Contents Page Hard Drive Dell™ Inspiron™ N4010 Service Manual Removing the Hard Drive Replacing the Hard Drive Removing the Hard Drive 1. Follow the instructions in Before You Begin. 2. Follow the instructions from step 2 to step 16 in Removing the System Board. 3. Remove the two screws that secure the hard-drive assembly to the system board. 4. Slide the hard-drive assembly to disconnect it from the connector on the system board. 5. Lift the hard-drive assembly away from the system board. 6. Remove the four screws that secure the hard-drive bracket to the hard drive. 7. Lift the hard-drive bracket off the hard drive. NOTE: If you are installing a hard drive from a source other than Dell, you need to install an operating system, drivers, and utilities on the new hard drive (see the Dell Technology Guide). Follow the instructions in Before You Begin. 2. Remove the new drive from its packaging. Save the original packaging for storing or shipping the hard drive. 3. Align the screw holes on the hard-drive bracket with the screw holes on the hard drive and replace the four screws. 4. Slide and push the hard-drive assembly to connect it to connector on the system board. 5. Replace the two screws that secure the hard-drive assembly to the system board. 6. Follow the instructions from step 5 to step 20 in Replacing the System Board. 7. Install the operating system for your computer, as needed.
