3150 INSTASTART™ SERIES To Set Up Soft Bag/Cover Globe ¦ Remove seal from Citronella ring. (Fig. 5) Fig. 5 ¦ Place Citronella ring inside torch. (Fig. 6) Fig. 6 CAUTION • The propane torch must be set up in a vertical position to function properly. • Do not place anything inside the torch other than a Citronella ring provided by Coleman. • The Citronella ring will liquify and slowly evaporate during operation. Allow the torch to cool and the Citronella ring to solidify before moving or storing the torch. • Do not attempt to refill the Citronella ring. Base English-4 ¦ For models with a plastic cap, remove plastic cap from torch. (Fig. 12) INSTASTART™ Electronic Ignition Fig. 12 To Light WARNING If you smell gas: 1. Do not attempt to light appliance. 2. Extinguish any open flame. 3. Disconnect from fuel supply. 4. Call 1-800-835-3278. DANGER • EXPLOSION - FIRE HAZARD • Propane is heavier than air and can accumulate in low places. If you smell gas, leave the area immediately. • Always attach or detach propane source outdoors; never while torch is lighted, near flame, pilot lights, other ignition sources or while torch is hot to touch. • Always light & use torch outdoors. • This torch must not be exposed to flammable vapors or liquids during lighting. • This torch is very hot during use and can ignite flammables too close to the torch. Keep flammables at least 72 inches from the sides and 72 inches from the top of the torch. Keep gasoline and other flammable liquids and vapors well away from torch. ¦ Assemble pole assembly by interlocking shock-corded poles. This will make one long pole. ¦ Thread pole assembly into bottom collar. (Fig. 7) Fig. 7 ¦ Mount stake securely into ground. ¦ Place pole assembly into stake. (Fig. 8) Fig. 8 CAUTION • The post assembly must be set up in a vertical position for the propane torch to function properly. ¦ For models with a soft bag, remove soft bag from torch. (Fig. 13) Fig. 13 Base support Fig. 9 Fig. 10 ¦ For models with base, screw base onto bottom collar. (Fig. 9) Pole support ¦ Place torch on a flat and stable surface. (Fig. 11) Fig. 11 ¦ Turn fuel valve full on. The valve should click and a spark should jump between the electrode and the burner and ignite the flame. (Fig. 14) NOTE: If torch does not light, repeat above step after turning fuel valve completely off. If the torch is wet due to rain, high humidity, etc., the valve may not spark. Use match lighting procedure. Fig. 14 ¦ For models with globe, place globe inside torch. (Fig. 10) To Turn Off ¦ Remove propane cylinder from torch. (Fig. 18) ¦ Turn fuel valve off. (Fig. 17) Fig. 18 To Store Fig. 17 DANGER • EXPLOSION - FIRE HAZARD • Never store propane near high heat, open flames, pilot lights, direct sunlight, other ignition sources or where temperatures exceed 120 degrees F (49°C). • The cylinder must be disconnected when the torch is in storage. ¦ The torch can be placed in an accessory case for secure storage. (Fig. 20) Fig. 20 ¦ Proper torch operation produces a yellow flame approximately 6 - 8 inches tall. Flame height is not adjustable. (Fig. 16) Fig. 16 DANGER • EXPLOSION - FIRE HAZARD • Do not use the cap or any other object to snuff out the flame. • Allow the flame to self-extinguish by turning off the fuel valve. (Fig. 15) Fig. 15 WARNING • BURN HAZARD • Never leave torch unattended when hot or in use. • Keep out of reach of children. Match Light Things You Should Know 1. It is unsafe and illegal in some places to store or use liquid propane cylinders of greater than 1.14 kg (2.5 lbs.) water capacity (approximately 465g [1 lb.] propane) in occupied enclosures. 2. After each use, wipe debris and foreign objects from the inside and outside of the torch with a soft cloth and mild dish detergent. Do not use abrasives. 3. The usual storage areas for camping and picnic equipment are the basement, attic, or garage. To avoid the accumulation of dust, cobwebs, etc., that is common in these storage areas, place your torch in a plastic bag and seal it with a rubber band. 4. For repair service call one of the numbers listed on the front cover for location of your nearest Coleman Service Center. If torch must be mailed to Service Center, attach to the product a tag that includes your name, address, daytime telephone number and a description of problem. Remove globe to prevent breakage. Do NOT send propane cylinder.
