Before you plug it in, make sure the voltage of the unit is the same as your local supply. ■ DO NOT immerse the unit in water. ■ The paper located between the pan and the heating plate must be removed before use. ■ After plugging in, press the switch on immediately. Cooking with the switch in Keep Warm position will cause low heat cooking and this will not cook the rice properly. ■ The unit becomes hot when in use. DO NOT touch the lid with your hand, and do not place your face or hand directly over the steam coming from the cooker. ■ Always keep the outside bottom of the pan and the heating plate clean and dry. Any foreign matter between them will cause the unit to malfunction. ■ Set the unit on a stable surface. DO NOT expose to water, high humidity, or heat sources. DO NOT use the pan directly on an open flame. ■ Be sure to keep the unit out of the reach of children, especially when cooking rice. o DO NOT tilt the rice-cooker on its edge or place it upside down with its power supply plug connected, as this may cause damage. When tilting or placing the rice-cooker upside down, make sure to disconnect the power supply plug. ■ The pan must not be filled above the “ MAXIMUM LEVEL”. ■ The lid must be closed tightly in the latched position at all times during cooking, (i.e. The unit must not be operated with the lid opened.) ■ DO NOT cover the lid with a cloth. The lid may deform or change color. ■ DO NOT damage the power cord and do not attempt to repair it if it is damaged. Avoid damage to the power cord. Never attempt to customize the cord. Keep the cord away from high temperatures. Avoid unnecessary bending, twisting and pulling on the cord. Never place heavy objects on the cord or attempt to tie it up. Using a damaged power cord can lead to electrical shock, shorting or fire. • Consult your nearest sales dealer for repair of the electrical cord or power plug. ■ Ensure that the plug fits all the way into the outlet. Partially plugged-in cords may cause electric hazard. -2- Parts Identification How to Cook Measure rice with the measuring cup provided. Rinse rice in a separate bowl until the water becomes relatively clear. Do not rinse rice in the rice cooker pan. Non-stick coating may be damaged. Place rinsed rice in the pan. Add water. e.g. For 6 cups rice, add water to LEVEL INDICATOR 6. LEVEL INDICATOR MAXIMUM LEVEL Do not cook with more than this level of water. i Adjust the quantity of water to your personal taste. i Soak rice in water at least for 30 minutes. Set the steam cap onto the outer lid. Place the pan in the body. Wipe the surface of the pan before use. If it is wet, it may cause noise while cooking. It may damage the unit, if any foreign matter is on it. Close the outer lid. The lid is locked properly when it clicks. ■ If outer lid is not securely closed, cooking will be affected. b Do not open the outer lid when in use. Plug in. Immediately press the switch. The “Rice Cook/Steam” lamp tells you when cooking has started. ° Do not plug in unit until you get ready to cook. Otherwise, rice may be ruined. o If the pan is not in the unit, cooking will not begin. When rice is done, the switch will move up to the “Keep Warm” setting. The “Keep Warm” lamp lights up to indicate that the “Keep Warm” function is working. □ The “Keep Warm” function continues until the unit is unplugged. After the switch moves up, leave the outer lid closed for at least 15 minutes to fully steam the rice. -4- ENGLISH How to Cook 8 9 Scoop and mix the rice well 20-30 minutes after cooking is done. Scoop holder Unplug the unit if you do not want to keep the rice warm or when the unit is not in use. 10 Remove and clean the dew collector after every use. To Keep Cooked Rice Warm and Tasty ■ Using the Keep Warm function for more than 5 hours may cause discoloration or an odor in the rice. ■ If quantity of rice to be kept warm is less than 4 bowlfuls (4 cups), the rice will gradually dry out and lose its flavour. ■ Utensils left in the pan during Keep Warm may affect the smell and taste of the rice. The lid is locked properly when it clicks. Plug in. Immediately press the switch. The “Rice Cook/Steam” lamp tells you when cooking has started. ° If outer lid is not securely closed, cooking will be affected. a DO NOT plug in until you are ready to cook. □ If the pan is not in the unit, cooking will not begin. Time the cooking manually. *Unit will automatically switch to Keep Warm, should the water evaporate. Turn off cooker by unplugging. o The “Keep Warm” function continues until the unit is unplugged.
