Slide-in levels . Your oven features 4 slide-in levels. The slide-in levels are counted from bottom to top. The numbers are marked in the oven. When using hot-air baking or roasting, do not use slide-in level »2«, in order not to block air circulation. Before Using Your Appliance for the First Time Time of day . Before you use your appliance for the first time, it is necessary to set the current time on the electronic timer. . After connecting to the mains, or after a power failure, the display 0.00 will blink. Setting the time: Press the t and g button simultaneously, while turning the rotary knob 8 to set the current time of day (example: 15.00 hrs., see illustration). Note: The time cannot be set if an automatic function is active (see Electronic clock for cancelling automatic function). Preliminary cleaning: 1. Clean the appliance exterior with a soft moistened cloth. 2. Clean the oven and the accessories with a hot detergent solution. . Please observe the operating instructions furnished with the hob. Initial burn-in 1. Heat the empty oven for approx. 30 minutes. Select top and bottom heat at a setting of 250° C. During the initial burn-in phase, please open the kitchen windows to dissipate unpleasant odours. 2. Operate cast-iron hotplates, without placing utensils on them, on the highest heat setting for about 1 to 2 minutes. The odour rising from the hotplates is caused by the burning-in of the corrosion protection, and occurs only during the initial use. Cooking Operating the hotplates . The z symbol on the switch panel represents the different hotplates and their respective switches. . After switching on one or more hotplates, the control lamp lights up. . The hotplate heat settings are infinitely variable. . Separate operating instructions apply to the hotplates. Before the initial use of the hotplates, please familiarise yourself with the information contained therein. Settings: Dependent on the features offered by your hob, the following hotplates are available: Standard hotplate 1. Turn the hotplate control knob to setting 9. 2. After the initial high-heat cooking phase, turn the control knob to a suitable setting for continuous cooking. . Intermediate settings between the heat settings 2 to 5 are marked by a dot. Dual-zone hotplate in glass-ceramic hobs 1. The dual-zone cooking zone is activated by turning the associated hotplate control knob to the o symbol. 2.
