The machine dials the first telephone number and begins sending the document. 2.14 Sending a fax 6800-03Ch 15/11/99 14:28 Page 15 Priority transmission When priority transmission is enabled, a high priority document can be transmitted ahead of previously scheduled operations. In this operation, the document is scanned into memory. It is immediately transmitted at the conclusion of any operation already in progress. A priority transmission interrupts a broadcast operation between stations (for example, when transmission to station A ends but before transmission to station B begins), or between redial attempts. 1. Place the document face down in the automatic document feeder. If necessary, adjust the resolution and contrast. For details, see page 2.8. 2. Press Menu, then press Priority TX on the one-touch keypad. 3. Enter the telephone number of the remote machine. There are several methods available to do this: • Direct entry of the telephone number using the numeric keypad. • One-touch keypad dialing of stored telephone numbers (see one-touch dialing on page 2.31). • Speed Number dialing using the numeric keypad (see speed dialing on page 2.33). Note : Group number dialing functions are not available in a priority transmission. 4. The display prompts you to enter a name for the transmission. To assign a name to the transmission, enter it using the number keypad and press Start/Enter. Or If you do not want to assign the transmission a name, press Start/Enter to skip over this step. For details on how to enter letters using the number keypad, see entering alphanumeric characters on page 2.4. 5. The document is scanned into memory. The display shows the remaining memory capacity and the number of pages. Load the document face down. If necessary, adjust resolution and contrast. For details, see page 2.8. 2. Press Menu, then press Add/Cancel on the one-touch keypad. The display asks you to select ‘ADD’ or ‘CANCEL’. OPERATION 1.ADD 2.CANCEL 3. Press Start/Enter to confirm ‘ADD’. The machine automatically stores the documents in memory, and displays the number of total pages and added pages, then returns to standby mode. Canceling a standby operation 1. Press Menu, then press Add/Cancel on the one-touch keypad. The display asks you to select ‘ADD’ or ‘CANCEL’. 2. Press 2 to choose ‘CANCEL’. The display shows operation currently reserved in memory. 3. Press † or „ „„ repeatedly until you find the operation you want to cancel, then press Start/Enter when you find the operation. 2.16 Sending a fax 6800-03Ch 15/11/99 14:28 Page 17 Receiving a fax Receiving modes Your multi-function machine has four receiving modes: • FAX The machine answers an incoming call and immediately goes into receiving mode. • TEL/FAX The machine answers the incoming call. If a fax signal is not detected, the machine sounds a ringing tone to indicate a voice phone call. If the external phone is not lifted while the ringing tone is sounding, the machine will switch to automatic fax receiving mode. • ANS/FAX To use the ANS/FAX mode, you have to attach an answering machine to the TEL socket on your machine. If the fax machine senses a fax tone, it automatically switches to fax reception mode. However, if a fax is not sensed, the machine routes the call to answering machine, and the caller can leave a message. • TEL In TEL mode, automatic fax reception is turned off. You can receive a fax only by manually picking up the external phone to accept the call and pressing Start/Enter to receiving the fax. The current reception mode is displayed in the bott...
