Failure to do so may result in injury or death to a person in your care. Test the Informer-Mate™ control unit and sensor pad before each use and inspect the cords and sensor pads for signs of damage. Replace any components with signs of wear or damage immediately. The Informer-Mate™ system is only one part of your facility's fall management program. The Informer-Mate™ system is not a substitute for proper nursing care or routine visual monitoring by caregivers. The effectiveness of the Informer-Mate™ system relies entirely on an immediate response by the caregiver to the Informer- Mate™ system alarm. The Informer-Mate™ system will not stop a person from leaving a bed or chair. It is intended only to alert a caregiver that a patient or resident may need assistance. The Informer-Mate™ system can be defeated by a cognitively aware person, a person with only a few moments of lucidity, or an uncooperative person. Properly assess each individual before the Informer-Mate™ system is used. Resident weight may affect proper operation. Models 82700, 82708, 82710, 82715, 83700 and 83705 pressure pads are not recommended for persons weighing less than 60 lbs. Keep the sensor pad flat at all times. Folding the pad will damage it. Do not use the pad if it has been folded. Sensor pads were designed to withstand normal wear and tear, but are more likely to fail and fail without warning due to prolonged use and other factors, e.g. bending, exposure to moisture, punctures, repeated cord pulls, connector damage, etc. Test each pad before each use and remove it from service at any sign of damage or at the end of the stated life of the pad (as labeled on it), whichever comes first. Use care when installing the Informer-Mate™ system. Gently remove or connect cords. Pulling on cords may damage them and/or result in system failure. When putting your sensor pads into position, keep the pad face up. Failure to do so will result in reduced sensitivity and improper operation of your Informer- MateTM system. Replace the battery immediately if the red low battery light on the control unit is on. The control unit will not function properly with a low battery. Do not immerse the sensor pads in liquids. The pad will not operate properly if the sensor pad is exposed to excessive liquids. If the pad is immersed in liquid, discard it immediately.
