This manual will assist you in setting up the MF-350 universal remote, so please be sure to keep it. Batteries The MF-350 universal remote requires 2 new AAA/LR03 alkaline batteries. 1. Lift off the cover by pulling the battery compartment cover tab. 2. Install two fresh AAA/LRO3 batteries as indicated by the illustration in the battery compartment. 3. DEVICE KEYS During operation the device key will light up to indicate the mode you are using. These keys select the device to be operated. TV Television VCR Video Recorder DVD DVD Player SAT Satellite Receiver / Cable Converter, Video Accessory CD CD Player AUD Amplifier / Tuner / Miscellaneous Audio, Phono, Home Automation AUX 1 Television AUX 2 Video Recorder / DVD / Laser Disc / Cassette Player / DAT 3. -/-- key The -/-- key (or 10 key function, if available on your original remote control) is used for one/two digit input switching. 4. MENU The MENU key operates the same function it did on your original remote control. 5. GUIDE The GUIDE key operates the same function it did on your original remote control. 6. AV key The AV key operates the same function it did on your original remote control. In AUD mode the AV key will give you the possibility for direct input selection if your original remote has one single key for input selection. 7. Directional keys If available on your original remote control, these keys will allow you to navigate through the menu. On some TV’s you may have to press CH+/- and VOL+/- keys OR the color keys (red, green, yellow, blue) to navigate through the menu, depending on your model of TV. 8. ENTER In menu mode this key will confirm your choice. On some devices you can confirm your menu option simply by pressing MENU. 9. Volume +/The Volume +/- keys operate just as they did on your original remote control. 17 10. MUTE The MUTE key operates just as it did on your original remote control. The MUTE key operates just as it did on your original remote control. 11. SETUP key The SETUP key is used to set up the MF-350 universal remote with your devices. 12. Channel +/The Channel +/- keys operate just as they did on your original remote control. 13. A, B, C, D keys These keys are spare keys that give you the possibility to customize the MF-350 universal remote according to your original remote control using the “Learning feature” (see page 22) or Macro feature see page 24. 14. Transport keys (PLAY, STOP etc.) These keys operate the transport functions (PLAY, FF, REW etc.) of your device. To prevent accidental recording, the RECORD key must be pressed twice to start recording. In VCR mode the SP/LP key controls the tape speed function, the AUTO key controls the auto tracking function, just like on your original remote. 15. Teletext keys These keys are used to operate the main teletext functions. Of course, your Television must have teletext capability. For a more detailed explanation of teletext and fastext, please refer to the manual of your television. Remember, different televisions control teletext and fastext functions in different ways. Not all of the teletext functions may be available on your particular model. TEXT ON: In TV mode: once in text mode, pressing this key may switch to MIX or TURN OFF text, depending on your television. TEXT OFF: In TV mode: switches the television back to regular viewing mode and changes back to TV-main screen. On some televisions this may be done by pressing the “TEXT ON” key several times. MIX: Shows both text and TV picture. HOLD/STOP: Stops changing pages. 16. Number Keys The Number keys (1 – 9, 0) operate just as they did on your original remote control. In AUD mode, the number (1 – 9, 0) keys may provide (if available on your original remote) an INPUT function (TUNER, CD etc.). 18 Setting up the MF-350 universal remote Example: to set up the MF-350 for your Television: 1. Switch your Television on (not on standby). 2. Find your device code in the code section (page 50 – 69) Codes are listed by brand name. The most popular code is listed first. 3. Press and release the TV key on your MF-350 4. Then press and hold down the SETUP key and keep it pressed until the red light (LED under device key) blinks twice. 5. Enter your 4-digit code, using the number keys. The red light blinks twice. 6. Now, point the MF-350 towards your Television and press the POWER key. If your Television switches off, the MF-350 is installed. ____ -Most TV’s do not switch back on pressing the POWER key, please try pressing a “number” key to switch your TV back on. -If your device does not respond, follow steps 1 through 6 with each code listed for your brand. If none of the codes listed for your brand operate your device, then try the Search Procedure described on page 20, even if your brand is not listed at all. - Some codes are quite similar.
