Check the LEDs • When the LevelOne Broadband Router is powered On, the Data/Status LED should flash Orange, then turn Green. If it stays Orange, or flashes Orange/Green, there is a hardware problem. • The WAN Data LED (on the top) should be ON. • The LAN Link LED (beside the LAN connection) should be ON. • The WAN Link LED (beside the WAN connection) should be ON. Choose an Installation Site Select a suitable place on the network to install the LevelOne Broadband Router. Ensure the LevelOne Broadband Router and the DSL/Cable modem are powered OFF. Installation 2. Connect LAN Cable Use standard LAN cables to connect PCs to the Switching Hub ports on the LevelOne Broadband Router. Both 10BaseT and 100BaseT connections can be used simultaneously. If required, connect any port to a normal port on another Hub, using a standard LAN cable. Any LAN port on the LevelOne Broadband Router will automatically function as an "Uplink" port when required. 3. Connect WAN Cable If you have a DSL modem or Cable modem, connect it to the WAN port on the LevelOne Broadband Router. Use the cable supplied with your modem. If no cable was supplied, use a standard LAN cable. 4. Power Up Connect the supplied power adapter and power up. Use only the power adapter provided. 5. Check the LEDs • The Status LED should flash, then turn Off. If it stays on, there is a hardware error. • The Power LED should be ON. • One (1) of the LAN LEDs (10 or 100) should be ON. • The WAN LED should be ON. Connect LAN Cables • Use standard LAN cables to connect PCs to the Switching Hub ports on the LevelOne Broadband Router. Both 10BaseT and 100BaseT connections can be used simultaneously. • If required, use a standard LAN cable to connect the "Uplink" port to a standard port on another hub. Connect WAN Cable Connect the DSL or Cable modem to the WAN port on the LevelOne Broadband Router. Use the cable supplied with your DSL/Cable modem. If no cable was supplied, use a standard cable. 4. Connect Printer Cable Use a standard parallel printer cable to connect your printer to the Printer port on the LevelOne Broadband Router. 5. Power Up • Power on the Cable or DSL modem. • Power on the Printer. • Connect the supplied power adapter to the LevelOne Broadband Router and power up. Use only the power adapter provided. Using a different one may cause hardware damage 6. Check the LEDs • The Status LED should flash, then turn Off. If it stays On, there is a hardware error. • The Power and WAN Link LEDs should be ON. • For each active LAN (PC) connection, the corresponding LED should be ON. (Yellow indicates 10BaseT, Green indicates 100BaseT.) • If the printer is On and On-line, the Print Act LED should be ON. For more information, refer to LEDs - FBR-1700TX in Chapter 1.
