Overview
NFS Maestro Server is a third-party application from Hummingbird Ltd. that allows UNIX®-oriented users to
access information stored in the Microsoft® Windows network environment. NFS Maestro Server enables
UNIX workstations and network-attached computers with Network File System (NFS) capability to access
Microsoft Windows-based resources, such as Windows 2000/XP and Windows Server™ 2003 file
systems, directories, and CD-ROMs across a network.
IMPORTANT: Prior to installing Hummingbird NFS Maestro Server, you need to uninstall or disable Unix
services for Microsoft Windows.
• On servers running Windows Server 2003 SP1 and lower, you can uninstall Windows Services for
Unix through Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.
• On servers running Windows Server 2003 R2, you can uninstall Microsoft Services for NFS through
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components >
Other Network File and Print Services.
• As an alternative to uninstalling the services, with any version of Windows Server 2003 you can
choose to disable two services. Go to My Computer > Manage > Services, and disable Server for NFS
and User Name Mapping.
After uninstalling or disabling these Unix services, some of the links in the NAS management user interface
that are related to NFS will no longer work.
