Description
The release includes updated firmware for the Ultrium 1840 SCSI tape drive.
HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools (HP L&TT) must be used to download firmware to the tape drive.

Enhancements
• A new diagnostic page (C3h) has been created to report algorithm versions used by the tape
drive for FIPS certification.
• Provides a TapeAlert notification when a tape that has been used over its usage limit is
experiencing above normal levels of going off track.
• Adds the firmware trace logs to the snapshot logs and new commands to the firmware debug
command set, which makes it easier to debug field failures.
Fixes
• Fixed a case where a non-HP cleaning cartridge caused the tape drive to reset.
• Fixed several cases where the tape drive had problems reading the tape position when the tape
drive was at extreme temperatures.
• Fixed a case where a dataset was writ en past the End of Wrap (EOW) after the tape went off
track near the EOW.
• Fixed a case where the drive reported busy after a read operation was aborted.
• Fixed a case where the tape was positioned incorrectly after a read operation that requested the
tape drive to read past the file mark.
• Fixed a case where the file identifier was partial y overwritten during a short erase at the
beginning of the tape.
• Fixed a case where the drive would be unable to write a newly loaded blank tape.
• Improved the performance of a data verification command following a write operation.
• Fixed a case where the number of times a cleaning cartridge was loaded was incorrectly
incremented.
• Fixed two commands used to communicate with the Library.
