Should the appliance be sold or transferred to another owner, or should you move house and leave the appliance always ensure that the book is supplied with the appliance in order that the new owner can be acquainted with the functioning of the appliance and the relevant warnings. Please ensure that you have read the whole instruction book before using the appliance and that you follow the recommendations given. WARNING: THESE WARNINGS ARE PROVIDED IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY. YOU MUST READ THEM CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING OR USING THE APPLIANCE. WARNINGS This appliance is designed to be operated by adults. Children should not be allowed to tamper with the controls or play with the product. Any installation work must be undertaken by a qualified electrician or a competent person. It is dangerous to alter the specifications or modify the product in any way. If the steam is to be extracted through a ventilation system you must ensure that the ducting for the appliance is not connected to any existing ventilation system which is being used for any other purpose. There could be a possible fire hazard if the synthetic paper grease filter, or charcoal filter (if fitted) is not replaced on a regular basis (at least every 3 months). This product should be serviced by an authorised Moffat Service Agent, and only genuine Moffat spare parts should be used. Under no circumstances should you attempt to repair the appliance yourself. Repairs carried out by an inexperienced person may cause injury or more serious malfunctioning. Refer to your local Moffat Service Agent. GENERAL INFORMATION This instruction book applies to the following models: Moffat MH65B Brown 60cm Moffat MH65W White 60cm This cooker hood is guaranteed for 12 months. The guarantee is only valid if the hood has been installed in accordance with the installation instructions detailed in this booklet. This cooker hood has been designed for use fixed beneath a wall cabinet or directly onto the wall and should be installed in accordance with the following installation instructions. A cooker hood can be used to duct odours to the outside or to filter the air within the kitchen. If it is used to filter the air within the kitchen a charcoal filter will be required. Charcoal filters are available at a reasonable price from your local Moffat Service Agent. The hood is convertible to either function by the movement of a slide control, thus enabling the hood when installed in the ducting mode (extraction) to be converted to filtered (recirculation), in one easy step. The installation instructions which follow give instructions on how and where this hood may be fitted. If already installed check with the installer that all the requirements have been met. If not then draw these to the attention of the installer who should be a qualified electrician or a competent person. Moffat disclaims all liability for any damage or injury caused as a result of incorrect installation. WARNING: THIS HOOD IS DESIGNED FOR DOMESTIC USE ONLY If the room where the cooker hood is to be used contains a fuel burning appliance such as a central heating boiler, then it should be of the room sealed or balanced flue type. If other types of flue or appliances are fitted, ensure that there is an adequate supply of air to the room. All installations must comply to BS5440 Pt.1 & Pt.2 1989, requirements for the discharge of exhaust air. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Care should be taken when unpacking the cooker hood to ensure that the items supplied below are not thrown away with the box. - Wall/Suspended fixing template (1) - Plastic rawl plugs (2) - Fixing screws (4) - Installation and Operating Instruction booklet (1) WALL FITTING The cooker hood is fitted to the wall using the keyhole slots in the back of the hood and the hood may be fitted to any rigid vertical surface. All the fittings required for installation are contained in a polythene bag inside the carton. IMPORTANT: Before installation check the wall to which the cooker hood is to be fitted for electric cables, water pipes or gas pipes before drilling. If it is necessary to fix the hood to a hollow construction plaster or partition board structure then it must be sufficiently reinforced to be quite rigid in the area of the cooker hood mounting screws. Use the paper template provided to mark the positions on the wall for the two 8mm screw holes. Check the hole distances are correct with a tape measure as stated on the template before commencing to drill the holes. At this stage it is important to allow 25mm (1 ins) clear space above the cooker hood (if it is to be fitted under a wall cabinet or similar) to enable it to be lifted on/off the screws for subsequent removal for decorating or servicing. When drilling the holes for the wall fixing screws care must be taken to ensure that they are quite level.
