19. VOLUME + / – and B / A (cursor) buttons VOLUME + / – : Press the + button to increase, or the – button to decrease the volume level. B / A (cursor) : Select an item or adjust the setting in the menu. 20. INDEX + / – buttons -Search for the INDEX mark of a tape. 21. REW (Rewind) button -In the Stop mode, this button rapidly winds the tape backwards. In the Play mode, this button activates reverse search. 22. SKIP SEARCH button -Press in the playback mode to search forward in 30 second increments to a maximum of 3 minutes. 23. COUNTER RESET button -Used to reset the counter to 00:00:00. 24. CHANNEL RETURN button - Switches between the present channel and the last channel selected. 25. ZERO RETURN button -Use to stop the tape when the counter reaches 00:00:00. 26. ENTER button -Press to enter or select information for on-screen operations. 27. TRACKING + / – buttons -During playback, they are used to adjust tracking manually. 28. PLAY button - Press to play a prerecorded tape. 29. Slide the battery compart- ment cover in the direction of the arrow. Replace the compartment cover. 1 2 3 BATTERY PRECAUTIONS The precautions below should be followed when using batteries in this device: 1. Use only the size and type of batteries specified. 2. Be sure to follow the correct polarity when installing the batteries as indicated in the battery compartment. Reversed batteries may cause damage to the device. 3. Do not mix different types of batteries together (e.g. Alkaline and Carbon-zinc) or old batteries with fresh ones. 4. If the device is not to be used for a long period of time, remove the batteries to prevent damage or injury from possible battery leakage. 5. Do not try to recharge batteries not intended to be recharged; they can overheat and rupture (Follow battery manufacturer’s directions). EFFECTIVE DISTANCE OF THE REMOTE CONTROL 15 FEET NOTES: • When there is an obstacle between the TV/VCR and the remote control, the remote control may not operate. • When direct sunlight, an incandescent lamp, fluorescent lamp or any other strong light shines on the Remote sensor of the TV/VCR, the remote operation may be unstable. • When using the remote control, press the button at intervals of about 1 second to ensure the correct mode of operation. 10 5L90101C P10-19 10 20/4/04, 16:32 ANTENNA CONNECTIONS If you are using an indoor or outdoor antenna, follow the instructions below that correspond to your antenna system. If you are using a cable TV service (CABLE), see page 12 for Cable TV connections. Combination VHF/UHF antenna (Single 75 ohm cable or 300 ohm twin-lead wire) Connect the 75 ohm cable from the combination VHF/ UHF antenna to the antenna jack. If your combination VHF/UHF antenna has a 300 ohm twin-lead wire, the use of the 300-75 ohm matching transformer may be necessary. Attach the combiner to the antenna jack. 11 5L90101C P10-19 11 20/4/04, 16:32 CABLE TV CONNECTIONS This TV/VCR has an extended tuning range and can tune most cable channels without using a Cable TV converter box. Some cable companies offer “premium pay channels” in which the signal is scrambled. Descrambling these signals for normal viewing requires the use of a descrambler device which is generally provided by the cable company. FOR SUBSCRIBERS TO BASIC CABLE TV SERVICE ANT. 75 ohm coaxial cable Antenna jack For basic cable service not requiring a converter/descrambler box, connect the Cable TV 75 ohm coaxial cable directly to the antenna jack on the back of the TV/VCR. FOR SUBSCRIBERS TO SCRAMBLED CABLE TV SERVICE If you subscribe to a cable TV service which requires the use of a converter/descrambler box, connect the incoming 75 ohm coaxial cable to the converter/descrambler box. Using another 75 ohm coaxial cable, connect the output jack of the converter/descrambler box to the antenna jack on the TV/VCR. Follow the connections shown below.
