Never insert your filling or an object into the filling tube. Place the juice jug (14) under the spout (Fig.7). Place the lid on the juice jug to avoid splattering or if you want to store the juice in the refrigerator. NOTE: The juice extractor has a safety system that prevents the juice extractor from being switched on if the clamp (7) has not been fitted correctly. • Place the juice extractor on a flat, stable surface and put the juice jug (14) or a similar container below the pouring spout (16). • Prepare the fruit or vegetables as described in the section entitled “Preparing the food”. Warnings: • Never use extremely fibrous fruits or vegetables. • Juice cannot be extracted from certain fruits such as bananas, avocados, etc. • Insert the foodstuffs through the filling spout (Fig.4). Press the food down with the food pusher (1). Never use your hands or insert utensils such as knives, forks or spatulas. The control knob of the juicer has 3 positions: 0 – The juicer is off. If it is connected to the mains supply, the control knob will be illuminated in green colour. 1 – Low speed, used mainly for soft fruits and vegetables (melon, grape, tomatoes, strawberry, etc). While working, the control knob will be illuminated in blue colour. 2 – High speed, suitable for hard fruits and vegetables (apples, pears, carrots, oranges, lemons, grapefruits, etc). While working, the control knob will be illuminated in blue colour. Note: If processing fairly large quantities, never use the appliance for longer than 30 seconds. Then switch off the appliance. Leave the appliance to cool down. • When cleaning the filter, unplug the juice extractor. Wait for the filter to come to a standstill before opening the lid. Open the clamp, take the filter out and remove the pulp. Clean away any pulp that is stuck to the lid. Note: Given that flavours do not mix, after you prepare a certain type of juice you can then go on to use another type of fruit without having to clean the appliance. • To get the full benefit of the juice it should be consumed as soon as it is prepared. Preparing the food Warning! Process ripe and unfrozen fruit and vegetables only. Unripe fruit and vegetables will block the filter very quickly. • First, wash the fruit and vegetables. • Remove stones from fruit. Remove large stalks. • Chop up large fruit and vegetables so that they fit the filling tube. • Process only fresh fruit and vegetables because they are juicier. • Peel fruit beforehand if it has thick and hard peel, e.g. pineapples, melons, oranges, grapefruits and raw beetroot. Remove the white skin from citrus fruits as it has a bitter aftertaste. • The consistency of apple juice depends on the kind of apple used. The juicier the apple, the thinner the juice. Add a few drops of lemon juice to the apple juice to delay the juice from turning brown. • Leaves and stems (e.g. stalks from leaf salad) can also be processed in this juicer. • If possible, drink juice as soon as it has been prepared. Juices lose their flavour and nutritional value if they are exposed to the air for a while. • Starchy fruits (e. g. bananas, papayas, avocados, figs and mangos) are not suitable for juicing in this appliance. Cleaning & Maintenance The appliance is easier to clean if you do so immediately after use. Check that the appliance is switched off and unplugged from the mains. Dismantle the juice extractor and wash the removable parts in soapy water. Use a soft-bristled brush to remove any pulp that may block the holes in the filter. Dry the pieces thoroughly before refitting them. Wipe down the motor housing with a slightly damp cloth. Never immerse it in water or any other liquid. Do not use abrasive clean agents. All the detachable parts are dishwasher-safe. Place the detachable plastic parts on the top tray of the dishwasher. Make sure they are placed well away from the heating element. The filter (4) will eventually wear with use. Replace it as soon as you notice the first signs of wear. If your juice extractor is used on a daily basis, it will need replacing every five years, approximately. Replacement filters can be obtained from an Authorised Technical Service Centre. To guarantee a long service life of the filter, as well as to prolong its initial appearance, we recommend hand-washing for the filter instead of washing it into the dishwasher.
