Internal Battery Pack for TPMC-4XG and TPMC-4XG-B: TPMC-4XG-BTP Introduction Features and Functions NOTE: For more information on the TPMC-4XG or TPMC-4XG-B touchpanels, refer to the latest version of the TPMC-4XG or TPMC-4XG-B Isys i/O™ Handheld WiFi Touchpanel Operations Guide (Doc. 6655 and 6749, respectively), which are available from the Crestron website (NOTE: For more information on the TPMC-4XG-DS or TPMC-4XG-DS-B, refer to the latest version of the TPMC-4XG-DS or TPMC-4XG-DS Desktop Docking Station/Charger guide (Doc. 6656 and 6750, respectively). Text Box: · Lithium Ion rechargeable battery pack for the TPMC-4XG and TPMC-4XG-B WiFi Touchpanels · Can be charged when TPMC-4XG or TPMC-4XG-B is mounted in the TPMC-4XG-DS or TPMC-4XG-DS-B Docking Station/Charger (sold separately) Specifications Specifications for the TPMC-4XG-BTP are listed in the following table. TPMC-4XG-BTP Specifications SPECIFICATION DETAILS Battery Output Voltage 3.7 Volts DC Capacity 1800 mAh Composition Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) Charging time 2 hours 50 minutes Weight 1.4 oz (40 g) Physical Description The TPMC-4XG-BTP has a multi-pin connector for attachment inside the battery compartment of the TPMC-4XG or TPMC-4XG-B. TPMC-4XG-BTP Physical View Setup Removal NOTE: To prevent damage to multi-pin connector and wiring, use care when handling the TPMC-4XG-BTP. Perform the following procedure to remove the existing TPMC-4XG-BTP from a TPMC-4XG or TPMC-4XG-B touchpanel: 1. Place the touchpanel screen side down on a clean, soft surface. 2. Remove the battery compartment cover on the rear of the touchpanel. 3. Using the flat end of a small slot head screwdriver, gently pry the multi-pin connector off the corresponding connector in the battery compartment of the touchpanel. 4. With the multi-pin connector detached from the touchpanel, lift the TPMC-4XG-BTP out of the battery compartment. Installation After completing removal of the old TPS-4XG-BTP from the touchpanel (refer to “Removal” above), perform the following procedure to install the TPMC-4XG-BTP in a TPMC-4XG or TPMC-4XG-B touchpanel: 1. Place the TPMC-4XG-BTP in the battery compartment oriented so the multi-pin connector is on the top. 2. Carefully connect the multi-pin connector of the TPMC-4XG-BTP with the corresponding connector inside the battery compartment. The pin side of the connector should be facing downward (toward the front of the touchpanel). NOTE: When installing the battery in the touchpanel, ensure the connecting wires are not under the battery. Refer to the photo on the following page for proper wire routing. 3. Re-attach the battery compartment cover. NOTE: To prevent battery drain during shipment or for long-term storage, the TPMC-4XG and TPMC-4XG-B have a battery switch inside the battery compartment. To use the internal battery, move the switch to the left (on) position. To conserve battery power when the unit will not be used for extended periods, move the switch to the right (off) position. TPMC-4XG-BTP in Battery Compartment of TPMC-4XG-B Charging NOTE: A Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery typically provides 300-500 charge/discharge cycles. To charge the TPMC-4XG-BTP, install the TPMC-4XG-BTP in a TPMC-4XG or TPMC-4XG-B touchpanel and mount the touchpanel on an AC powered TPMC-4XG-DS or TPMC-4XG-DS-B Docking Station/Charger (sold separately). NOTE: The battery pack may take up to three hours to charge in a powered touchpanel if the panel is in use during charging. Storage The TPMC-4XG-BTP can be stored in a temperate, dry place (removed from the touchpanel and docking station) indefinitely without significant irreversible degradation of its performance. The self-discharge rate is a function of temperature and internal resistance. High temperature storage reduces charge retention. Best results occur if the TPMC-4XG-BTP is stored at an optimal temperature of 32° to 104°F (0° to 40°C). After an extended period of storage, initiate a few charge/discharge cycles to restore full capacity. NOTE: The TPMC-4XG BTP should be 30-50% charged when put into storage. Disposal NOTE: The TPMC-4XG-BTP contains a Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery. When the unit can no longer retain a charge, it must be recycled or disposed of properly. Follow local ordinances and/or regulations for disposal. Resources Industry Compliance As of the date of manufacture the TPMC-4XG-BTP has been tested and found to comply with specifications for CE marking and standards per EMC and Radiocommunications Compliance Labelling.
