• Nezkousejte defektni pristroj opravit sami – pokud nejste odbornik. Jinak hrozi nebezpeci urazu elektrickou ranou nebo nebezpeci pozaru. Battery charger 1. Purpose This battery charger provides an irregular direct current. It is therefore only intended -for time-controlled loading of customary starter-batteries (lead batteries for motor vehicles)... -with a nominal voltage of 12V and a capacity of 36 – 200 Ah... -for private home usage... - in rain-protected rooms. The battery charger is not intended for the following purposes: -not for charging of maintenance-free and low-maintenance batteries, - not for any other batteries other than lead starter-batteries, - not for continuous loading of batteries, - not for current supply of 12-V users. Caution! Irregular chargers are not suitable for the above-mentioned purposes, because they supply too much energy for these, and could therefore cause damage. Danger! Never use the battery charger to charge non-rechargeable batteries, otherwise they could explode! 2. Technical Data Mains voltage 230 V / 50 Hz Power 66 W Protection type IP 20 Initial voltage 12 Vnenn Initial current 5eff / 3,5 Aarithm 3. Important information for your safety • Only use the battery charger in well-ventilated rooms, because gases are released when batteries are charged, that can reach an explosive concentration in closed rooms! •Never connect the battery charger if you smell gases or fuel vapours, because sparks occurred on connecting, which can then cause an explosion! •Never use the battery charger near rain or moisture to prevent danger to life from electric shock. •Protect the battery charger from overheating, by always keeping the ventilation-slots free, and do not expose it to additional sources of heat (sun, hot motor...) •Never try to charge obviously defective batteries! These can overheat and explode! 4. Connecting Make sure that the mains lead and both charging leads are in perfect condition before usage. If the mains cable is damaged, the charger may only be used again when the mains cable has been replaced by the service department. There is otherwise a risk of death from electric shock! If the charging leads are damaged, there is a risk of fire from high short-circuit currents. Have the charging leads repaired and the Insulation checked, before using the charger again! Danger! Never put the power plug into the socket, if the charging cables are not properly connec ted to the battery! The battery charger has no On/Off switch there is a current immediately in the charging cables, as soon as the power plug is in the socket! A short-circuit may occur if the charging cables are hanging down loosly! . First connect the red charging cable to the positive pole of the battery, . and then the black charging cable to the negative pole of the battery. In this order the danger of a short-circuit is reduced, should the red charging cable accidentally touch the metal chassis (earth) on connecting! . Now put the power plug into the socket – the charging process will begin immediately. 5. Charging This battery charger has no charging-time control! Batteries which are charged for too long can overload and thereby get damaged. That is why the following points should be observed to calculate the maximum charging time: The charging time depends on the battery’s charged condition. If you do not know this exactly, you can test it with a customary acid-meter (as described in its instructions). For information: Lead batteries are considered... -empty with an acid density of less than 1.16g/cm3 -half charged with an acid density of 1.21 g/cm3 -fully charged with an acid density of more than 1.28g/cm3 The charging time is calculated by the formula “Battery capacity divided by the charging current”. For example, for a battery capacity of 36 Ah and a charging current of 12 A, it would theoretically be about 3 hours (3 h x 12 A = 36 Ah). “Theoretically”, because as the charging time increases, the charging current sinks and the fuller the battery becomes! Therefore: . The measuring instrument on the charger shows the charging current at the time of reading. This is only close to the maximum value at the beginning of charging. Observe the decrease of the charging current to calculate the actual charging time from the middle value. Caution! 7. Care 10. Faults: If the charging current does not decrease significantly in the course of the total charging Cleaning is not necessary, unless there is The overload protection interrupts charging in the time, this indicates a defective battery! This visible dirt. If you want to ...
