Format card LOCK 7 Cards must be formatted with this camera before first use or after being used with other cameras or computers. Information Checking the image saving location The memory indicator shows whether the internal memory or card is being used during shooting and playback. EN 85 Using external flash units designated for use with this camera With this camera, you can use one of the separately sold external flash units to achieve a flash suited to your needs. The external flashes communicate with the camera, allowing you to control the camera’s flash modes with various available fl ash control modes, such as TTL-AUTO. An external flash unit specified for use with this camera can be mounted on the camera by attaching it to the camera’s hot shoe. You can also attach the flash to the flash bracket on the camera using the bracket cable (optional). Refer to the documentation provided with the external flash units as well. The upper limit of the shutter speed is 1/180 sec. when using a flash. Information Wireless remote control fl ash photography External flash units that are designated for use with this camera and have a remote control mode can be used for wireless flash photography. The camera can control the flash units in up to three separate groups. See the instruction manuals provided with the external flash units for details. 1 Set the remote flash units to RC mode and place them as desired. • Turn each flash unit on, press the MODE button, and select RC mode. • Select a channel and group for each fl ash unit. 2 Select [On] for [# RC Mode] in X Shooting menu 2 (P. 88). • The super control panel switches to RC mode. • You can choose a super control panel display by repeatedly pressing the INFO button. • Select a flash mode (note that red-eye reduction is not available in RC mode). 86 EN 3 Adjust the settings for each group in the super control panel.
