The electrical rating of the extension cord must be equal to or greater than the rating of the 2 coffeemaker. Care must be taken to arrange the extension cord so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or accidentally tripped over. See “To Set the Clock and Program Automatic Brew” on page 5. 2. Before first use, wash Carafe. See “To Clean the Coffeemaker Parts” on page 7. Then run one full Carafe of clean water through a complete cycle by following steps 6 through 10. 3. To make coffee, lift Cover to access Filter Basket. Move Shower Head into a position over the Reservoir. Place disposable paper filter in Filter Basket. Use a good quality cupcake (basket) style filter, 8 to 12 6. Fill Carafe with the desired amount of cold water, and pour into Reservoir. Flip Cover down to close. NOTE: If Shower Head is positioned over Reservoir when Cover is closed, it will automatically be swiveled into position over Filter Basket when the Cover is closed. 7. Place Carafe with Carafe Lid attached on Keep-Hot Plate. 8. Press ON/OFF button once to turn the Coffeemaker on. The button will glow red when in use. cup size. A permanent filter may also be used. 4. For each cup of coffee being made, place one level measuring table- spoon of ground coffee into filter. 5. After adding ground coffee into filter, move Shower Head back into posi- tion over Filter Basket. 9. When finished, press the ON/OFF button once and unplug. 10. If storing Coffeemaker, the Cord can be pushed into a special cord stor- age area in the back of the unit. NOTE: If the Coffeemaker is not turned off manually, it will automati- cally shut off in two hours. CAUTION Overflowing coffee and hot water are a burn hazard. To avoid overflows of the Filter Basket or Pause ‘N Serve: • Use one level tablespoon of ground coffee per cup. Excessive amounts of coffee grinds will clog the Filter Basket. • Do not grind coffee too finely. This will clog the filter. • Use a good quality “cupcake” or basket-style filter. The sides of the filter should be upright against the sides of the Filter Basket to avoid filter collapsing. Paper filters are less likely to clog than permanent filters. • Return Carafe to the Keep-Hot Plate within 20 seconds if you are using the Pause ‘N Serve feature. Hot water continues to flow into the Filter Basket when this fea- ture is used and it may overflow unless carafe is returned within 20 seconds. • Make sure Carafe is fully seated on the Keep-Hot Plate. 4 840155200 ENv01 7/7/06 1:53 PM Page 5 Control Panel (for clock models) Hour MinuteProgram/ Automatic Brew ON/OFF Button Indicator Light Additional Features Pause ’N Serve This feature allows you to pour a cup of coffee before the entire brew cycle has completed. By removing the Carafe, the flow of coffee from the bottom of the Filter Basket will stop. Automatic Shutoff CAUTION: Return carafe to Keep-Hot Plate within 20 seconds. Hot water continues to flow into the Filter Basket when this feature is used. Overflowing coffee and hot water are burn hazards. The Automatic Shutoff feature shuts off the Keep-Hot Plate 2 hours after brew cycle begins. Always turn Coffeemaker OFF and unplug when finished. To Set the Clock and Program Automatic Brew NOTES: • The Automatic Brew feature must be programmed each time it is used. • Make sure you have placed the desired amount of water and coffee in the unit before using the Automatic Brew feature. 1. Plug in Coffeemaker. The numbers on the Clock will flash until the time is set. 2. Press the H button until the current hour is displayed. AM or PM will appear on display. Press the M button until the current minute is displayed. The Clock is now set. 3. To program Coffeemaker to automatically begin brewing, press and hold the Prog/Auto button for two seconds to enter the setting mode. While still pressing Prog/Auto, press the H button to set hours and then press the M button to set minutes until the desired brew time is displayed. 4. To have Coffeemaker automatically begin brewing at a preset time, press Prog/Auto button momentarily. The Prog/Auto button will glow green to indicate Automatic Brew is set and coffeemaker is ready to begin brewing. “Auto” will appear in the display. 5.
