7. When
the
Maintain Firmware screen is displayed, compare the HP NetRAID-2M card’s
firmware version that you made a note of against the Version on the DVD column. If the
“Version on DVD” is higher than the one you have written, flash the HP NetRAID-2M
firmware.
Installing the Operating System with the HP NetRAID-2M as the Boot
Controller

1. To install the operating system, refer to the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Installation
Guide for Intel Itanium Processor Family HP Servers for detailed instructions on
installing the operating system. This is a document provided on the HP Smart Setup
DVD. You can read or print this document at a Windows workstation with a DVD player
by inserting the DVD and clicking on the document link.
2. After completion of the operating system installation, shut down the server and reconnect
any mass storage devices you have previously disconnected to their respective
controllers.
3. If you have additional HP NetRAID-2M cards in the server, proceed to the next section.
Installing the Operating System Driver for an Additional HP NetRAID-2M

NOTE: Please consult the HP NetRAID-1M and NetRAID-2M Installation and Configuration Guide for
instructions on doing the physical installation of the adapter.
1. Be sure that the HP NetRAID-2M card is installed in the server and connected to its mass
storage devices, then reboot your server so that the system can recognize it.

When the server is rebooted and the card is recognized, Windows automatically launches
the Found New Hardware wizard, which you use to install the Windows drivers for the
HP NetRAID-2M card.
2. The Found New Hardware wizard displays a Files Needed dialog box, which prompts for
the location of the driver files for the HP NetRAID-2M card. Select the option to
automatically look for the driver.
3. When the driver finishes installing, click Finish to exit the Found New Hardware
wizard.
4. At
the
message
Do you want to restart the computer now? click Yes to
reboot the server.
5. Once the server has rebooted, you will need to configure the drives connected to the
additional HP NetRAID-2M using the NetRAID Assistant Utility.
Repeat the above steps to install additional NetRAID-2M controllers.
Installing HP NetRAID-2M Utilities
NetRAID Assistant (or NRA) is the online RAID configuration/management utility that runs
on Windows. The setup program for this utility is included on the HP Smart Setup DVD.
