SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS 2 POLARIZED PLUG This appliance has a polarized plug-one blade is wider than the other. To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse it. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature by modifying the plug in any way. NOTE: The rubberized grip is free of natural rubber and latex. It is safe for use by individuals allergic or sensitive to these materials. 1. Be sure the Mixer is OFF and unplugged before inserting or removing attachments. For models with wire beaters: Since one Beater has a “collar” on its stem while the other doesn’t, each Beater fits only into one opening. Match the “collared” beater to the illustration on the Mixer to help you place it into the correct hole (A). You may have to rotate it slightly until it locks into place. Beaters are not inter-changeable. If a Beater does not lock in after rotating it, check the illustration on the Mixer and be sure you are placing the correct Beater into the appropriate opening. Do not force a Beater into a slot. For models with standard beaters: the Beaters are inter-changeable and either one can be inserted into either hole. 3 How To Use Speed Control Switch A Spatula Attachment Wire Beaters Heel Rest Beater Eject Lever Standard Beaters 2. Plug the Cord into an outlet. 3. Place the ingredients into a bowl, grip the Mixer handle, and position the Beaters in the center of the food to be mixed. 4. Select the appropriate speed setting for the task (B). See the “Mixing Guide” below. 5. Guide the Beaters continuously through the mixture for uniform mixing. For models with standard beaters: If you want to scrape the bowl using a hand held utensil, be sure to turn the Speed Control Switch OFF. Place the Mixer on the Heel Rest so that batter can drain into the bowl (C). For models with wire beaters: See “Using the Spatula Attachment” for bowl scraping. 6. Be sure the mixer is off and unplugged. To remove the Beaters, push the Beater Eject Lever down. CAUTION: Be care ful when ejecting the Beaters since they come out of the Mixer quickly. You may want to eject them into the bowl or into a sink. B C Mixing Guide Use the following guide for speed selections. SPEED FUNCTION USE 1 (Low) Stir To stir in flour/dry ingredients, and liquids for batters and cookie doughs. To blend nuts, chips, raisins into cookie doughs. 2 (Low) Combine To prepare sauces, puddings, muffins, and quick breads. To stir thin batters. 3 (Medium) Mix To prepare batters and cake mixes. To cream butter and sugar or mix eggs into batters. 4 (Medium) Beat To beat whole eggs, frozen desserts, frostings. To mix light batters like popovers. 5 (High) Whip To whip fluffy mixtures, whipped cream, egg whites, and potatoes. NOTE: Start mixing at the lowest speed and gradually increase as needed. 4 Using the Spatula Attachment (Selected Models Only) The Spatula is designed for use with thin (pudding, pancake batter) to medium batters (cake mixes, muffins, frosting). It is not recommended when beating egg whites, whipping cream, or when mixing thick cookie dough. 1. Insert the Beaters into the Mixer. 2. Hold the Mixer by the handle with the Beaters facing out. Position the attachment so that the Spatula is to the right of the Beaters. 3. Weave the top of the Spatula Attachment under the left Beater shaft and over the right Beater shaft. The word “Front” on the Attachment should face out. Snap the Attachment onto the Beater shafts. (D) 4. As you mix, place the front edge of the Spatula Attachment against the side of the bowl and move it forward slowly along the side of bowl to scrape and blend ingredients back into the Beaters. NOTE: If the Spatula Attachment detaches during use, be sure to turn OFF the Mixer before attempting to reattach it to the Beaters. Be sure the Mixer is unplugged and OFF. D Care and Cleaning 1. Be sure the Speed Control Switch is OFF (O) and the cord is unplugged before cleaning any part of the Mixer. Eject the Beaters. 2. The Beaters (and Spatula Attachment) may be washed in hot, sudsy water or in a dishwasher. Dry all parts thoroughly before storing. 3. Clean the Mixer or cord with a damp cloth. To remove stubborn spots, wipe surfaces with a cloth dampened in sudsy water or a mild, nonabrasive cleaner. Follow with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners on any part of the Mixer as they can damage the finish. Storing the Mixer 1. To store, coil the Cord in loops and secure it with a cord tie. Do not wrap the cord around the Mixer. 2. Store the Beater (and Spatula Attachment) in a drawer or in the original packaging. 5 Mixing Tips 1.
