2.) Insert the smaller end of the cord into the AC socket on the side of the cabinet. 3.) Insert the plug into any convenient 120V 60Hz AC outlet. Note: In order to operate this unit on batteries the AC cord must be disconnected from the unit. CAUTION This system is designed to operate on 120V 60Hz AC house current . Connecting this system to any other power supply could result in damage to the unit which is not covered by your warranty. You will note that this system is equipped with a polarized AC power plug having one blade wider than the other. This is a safety feature. If this plug does not fit into your existing AC outlet, do not try to defeat this safety feature by filing the wide blade to make it fit into your outlet. If this plug will not fit into your outlet, you probably have an out-dated non-polarized AC outlet. You should have your outlet changed by a qualified licensed electrician. If you close the lid while the radio or a CD is playing the power shuts ‘Off’ automatically. LISTENING TO THE RADIO 1.) Press the OPEN button and raise the lid. 2.) Press the POWER button to turn the system ‘On’. 3.) Press the TUNER button to select the radio function. 4.) Press either the AM of FM button to select the desired band. 5.) If you select the FM band pull the FM antenna out from the right side of the cabinet, extend it to its full length and position it vertically. 6.) Rotate the TUNING control to select the desired station. If you tune to an FM Stereo station the FM ST. indicator will light. 7.) Press the VOL. UP or DOWN buttons to adjust the volume. Important! Speaker Protection Circuit To prevent damage to the two ultra thin speakers mounted in the lid, the VOLUME control will automatically return to a low 'default' setting each time the power is switched 'Off'. Adjust the volume to a comfortable listening level each time you switch the power 'On'. 8.) When you are finished listening press the POWER button to shut the system ‘Off’’. Closing the lid will also shut ‘Off’ the power. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 7 2 3 5 4 6 PD6950_ib061402.p65 8 14/6/2002, 15:47 9 PLAYING COMPACT DISCS Normal Playback 1.) Press the OPEN button and raise the lid. 2.) Press the POWER button to turn the system ‘On’. 3.) Press the CD button to select the CD function. 4.) Press the CD door on the OPEN/CLOSE marking to open the door. 5.) Place a disc on the center spindle with the printed label side facing up. Press down on the disc near the center hole to make sure the disc is properly ‘seated’ on the spindle and then close the CD door. The disc will spin for a few moments while the player reads the table of contents and then the display will show the total number of tracks on the disc. 6.) Press the PLAY/PAUSE Button. Playback will begin on track 1. Adjust the VOLUME controls as desired. Important! Speaker Protection Circuit To prevent damage to the two ultra thin speakers mounted in the lid, the VOLUME control will automatically return to a low 'default' setting each time the power is switched 'Off'. Playback will continue to the end of the disc then the player stops and the display again shows the total number of tracks on the disc. You may also stop playback at any time by pressing the STOP button. 8.) The sound stops and the track display flashes but the disc continues to spin. Press PLAY/PAUSE once more to cancel Pause mode and resume normal playback. To Start Playback From A Specific Track After the player reads the disc and displays the total number of tracks press either the FWD or REV buttons until the desired track number appears on the display, then press the PLAY/PAUSE button.
