Enhancements
•
P9000 RAID Manager out-of-band communication
P9000 Cluster Extension supports environments with virtual command devices. Out-of-band
communication transfers a command from the client or server to a virtual command device in
the array controller via the LAN, assigning a RAID Manager operation instruction to the array
controller and executing it. This eliminates the need for a dedicated command device mapped
through the FC network.
•
P9000 RAID Manager command device authentication
P9000 arrays use command device authentication to restrict user access to command devices.
When command device authentication is enabled, users must provide authentication details
in order to get the required array access. P9000 Cluster Extension provides configuration
tools to collect the command device authentication credentials.
•
P9000 Cluster Extension now supports both copy groups and device groups.
Fixes
N/A
Prerequisites
•
Windows Server 2008 only: In certain situations, resources do not follow the Preferred Owners
List order during failover. See the Microsoft Knowledge Base article KB950181 for more
information.
•
A physical disk resource may unexpectedly fail or go offline when the IsAlive function is run
on a Windows Server 2008 cluster node. See the Microsoft Knowledge Base article KB953652
for more information.
•
Immediately after installing P9000 Cluster Extension, bringing a resource online might fail
with the error Create process to execute command "horcmstart instance"
failed. This error occurs because the RAID Manager environment path variable value is
not reflected for the P9000 Cluster Extension resource. If you experience this problem, restart
the cluster service on the affected cluster node. After you restart the cluster service, this error
message will not appear again.
•
In a Server Core or Hyper-V Server environment, after the installation of P9000 Cluster
Extension, the RAID Manager-related path environment variable value is not updated correctly
to P9000 Cluster Extension. To work around this issue, re-login to the Windows session on
the cluster nodes or reboot the cluster nodes.
•
P9000 and XP Continuous Access Journal are supported only on P9500, XP24000, XP20000,
XP12000, and XP10000 disk arrays.
•
To enable use of the HP OpenView AutoPass GUI, install the Java Runtime Environment (Java
SE Release families 5.0 or 6.0) and set the path environment variable for java.exe.
