You will be asked if you really want to initialize. Press Enter to initialize. 3. Turn the unit off and disconnect it from the AC mains power (unplug it from the wall). On a flat, protected working surface (static-free), turn the unit over on its front panel. You will need a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the front panel down and the twelve screws holding the keybed in place. Refer to Figure 1 for screw locations. Make sure the keybed is supported when you turn the unit right side up. Front Figure 1 4. Open the front panel and remove the keybed. The connecting cables are long enough to allow this operation. 5. Locate the original Memory Board as illustrated in Figure 2. 6. The original Memory' Board can be removed by “pinching” the three nylon standoffs with a pair of needle-nose pliers. Note: It is not necessary to remove the ribbon cable coming across the lop of the Memory Board. It has enough slack to allow to board to be removed from under it. Applying a bit of upward pressure on the board will allow the left side to lift free of the standoffs. Once the left side is free of the standoffs, carefully slide the board to the left (unplugging the connector) and lift it out. Refer to Figure 2 for standoff and connector locations. 7. Carefully slide the DPM 4 memory' Board into place, making sure not to bend any connector pins. Snap the board down onto the standoffs. Make sure the standoffs hold the board firmly in place. RAM Installation 8. The DPM 4 Memory Board comes with 512K of RAM pre-installed. To install an additional 512K of RAM (bringing the total to 1 megabyte of RAM), the installation of four RAM ICs is required. Refer to Figure 3 for proper location of additional RAM. ROM Installation 9. The DPM 4 comes with ten megabytes of Sample ROM pre-installed. An empty socket is provided for future expansion of sample memory (via a two-megabyte IC—resulting in a total of twelve megabytes of Sample ROM). Refer to Figure 3 for the proper location of the two-megabyte Sample ROM IC. EPROM Installation 10. To update the operating system version, new EPROMs need to be installed. These are labeled “Hi" and “Lo” and are located on the Main DSP Logic Board. Refer to Figure 2 for the proper location of the “Hi" and “Lo” EPROM ICs. Note: It is very important to place the ICs in all of these installation procedures with pin 1 in the proper orientation (refer to Figure 2a). For RAM installation, place the ICs with pin 1 in the same orientation as those already installed (see Figure 3). For Sample ROM installation, place the IC with pin 1 in the same orientation as those already installed (see Figure 3). For EPROM installation, replace the ICs in the same orientation as those removed. 11. Visually inspect the changes that have just been performed. Reconnect the AC mains (plug the unit into the wall) and turn the unit on. Re-initialize the unit following the procedure outlined in step 2. Turn the unit off for several seconds, then turn it back on. 12. Verify the correct amount of wave memory by pressing the Global button, then press the Sample RAM soft button. Press the Stats soft button. The amount of memory will be displayed in words. This means that for one megabyte (1048 KB) of memory', the unit will display524kw, or half the memory installed (there are two bytes to a word). 13. Disconnect the AC mains once again (unplug the unit from the wall), then re-install the keybed and fasten down the front panel, taking care not to pinch any wires or cables, or damage the circuit boards or components during reassembly. 13. Re-load all previously saved data into the unit. Figure 3 Features and specifications subject to change without notice. Peavey Electronics Corporation / 71 I A Street / Meridian.
