Known issues and limitations
Following are the known issues and limitations in this release of SAN Visibility:
• Port module type and license information are not available for Brocade switches through SMI-S.
• CISCO 9020 switches does not report connected switches, IP gateway and correct sensor value.
• License information and FC address are not available for Cisco and McData switches.
• FC address and IP Gateway information are not available for Brocade switches.
• Firmware version and sensor information is not available for the Brocade multi protocol router
(AP7420).
• IP Gateway, FC address, fan status and license information are not available for Qlogic switches.
• SAN Visibility does not support Admin Domain for Brocade switches. If Admin Domains are con-
figured in the switch, zone related information may not report correctly.
• Some data are not reported correctly when the same switch is included in the multiple switch
groups in the same configuration. HP recommends that you do not include the same switch in
more than one switch group.
• SMI-S based data collection returns some invalid characters in the description for the HBA driver
and the Array Firmware.
• HP StorageWorks 8/20q and QLogic switches returns same World Wide Name (WWN) for all
the connected switches in a fabric, when SNMP Proxy parameter is set to "True" (default value).
To resolve this issue, change the SNMP proxy parameter to "False" before initiating switch data
collection. For more information on how to change SNMP proxy settings, see the Troubleshooting
section of the HP StorageWorks Essentials SAN Visibility 4.0 user guide.
• SSH (or Secure SHell) based data collection is supported only for Brocade switches with firmware
version 4.0 and later.
• Data collection done for a switch in bad state may give inaccurate data.
• SAN Visibility does not support IPv6 data collection for a QLogic switch.
• SAN Visibility does not support explicit data collection from Cisco N_Port Virtualization (NPV)
mode switches and from HP 4Gb Virtual Connect Fibre Channel (VC-FC) module switches. However,
SAN Visibility can identify NPIV created by Cisco NPV and HP VC-FC mode switches in a normal
NPIV enabled FC switch.
• Brocade switches running FOS6.2.0a may show improper NPIV device information from the name
server which may result SAN Visibility to incorrectly identify the physical and virtual HBAs. In such
cases, the workaround is to collect data using SMI-S.
• Brocade switches running FOS6.2.0a may not report attached device properly, resulting SAN
Visibility not being able to correctly categorize connected switches.
