NOTE:
For installing SAN Visibility on a system running on Microsoft Vista, do one of the following:
— Install SAN Visibility in any directory other than the default directory: C:\program files.
— Disable User Account Control (UAC) on the system. For more information on how to disable
UAC, see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc709691.aspx.
Fixes
The following issue is resolved in this release of SAN Visibility:
• Resolved a switch data collection issue where the zone and licensing data collection failed because
of invalid response to vendor specific calls.
Prerequisites
Following are the prerequisites to install and run HP StorageWorks Essentials SAN Visibility:
• To use the HP StorageWorks Essentials SAN Visibility 3.1 software, following are the necessary
applications that must be installed on a host where HP StorageWorks Essentials SAN Visibility is
installed:
• Java 2 Runtime Environment (JRE) SE v1.5 Update 1 or higher
• Microsoft Excel viewer
• Microsoft Visio viewer
• Brocade SMI-Agent (120.6.0 a) installed for SMI-S based data collection. For more information,
see the SMI-Agent user guide.
NOTE:
Brocade SMI-Agent installation is not mandatory for SAN Visibility data collection. If Brocade
SMI-Agent is not installed, then the collection takes place through SNMP (and Brocade APIs).

Known issues and limitations
Following are the known issues and limitations in this release of SAN Visibility:
• Port module type and license information is not available for Brocade switches through SMI-S.
• CISCO 9020 switches does not report connected switches, IP gateway and correct sensor value.
• License information and FC address are not available for Cisco and McData switches.
• FC address and IP Gateway information are not available for Brocade switches.
• Firmware version and sensor information is not available for the Brocade multi protocol router
(AP7420).
• IP Gateway, FC address, fan status and license information are not available for Qlogic switches.
• SAN Visibility does not support Admin Domain for Brocade switches. If Admin Domains are con-
figured in the switch, zone related information may not report correctly.
