Push Spray Button to release a fine spray of water for difficult wrinkles in cotton or linen. Reheating Light – This light comes on when the iron is drawing power from the base. The iron may be used even when this light is on, but for best results, wait for this light to go off before removing iron from base. Reheating Light Power/Reset Light Button – Light comes on when the base is plugged in and remains on for approximately one hour. After one Power/ hour, the light goes Reset off and the iron will Light turn off. Push the Button button to turn the power base back on for another hour of ironing. Re-heat Light – This light comes on when the base is first plugged in and will go off after the iron is ready to use. If this light flashes during use, return the iron to the base until the light goes off again. When Re-heat Light this light begins to flash, it will automati cally shut off the steam function. NOTE: A popping sound in the iron when the Reheat Light goes on or off is the anti-drip system. This is normal. Set the Adjustable Steam Switch to O (the Dry Iron position). 3. Turn Temperature Control Dial to desired temperature. Allow three minutes for iron to reach desired temperature. 4. To turn iron Off, turn Temperature Control Dial to Off and unplug power base. To Steam Iron NOTE: Do not attempt to fill iron while in power base. 1. Remove iron from power base. Using Opening a cup, slowly pour 6 ounces (3.4 cup) of tap water into water tank opening. Do not fill iron directly from the faucet. 2. Plug power base into outlet. 3. Turn the Temperature Control Dial to desired fabric setting in the steam range. 4. Allow three minutes for the iron to reach desired temperature. 5. Set Adjustable Steam Switch to the recommended steam level. See “Fabric Setting Chart” on page 4. 6. To turn iron off, set Adjustable Steam Switch to O (Dry Iron). Turn the Temperature Control Dial to Off and unplug iron from base. 7. Empty water from the iron following directions in “Caring for Your Iron.” NOTES • When first steaming from an empty iron, up to 20 seconds may be needed before the iron begins to steam. • For best results, always return the iron to the power base when not in use, even if only for a few seconds. Water For best steam performance, use ordinary tap water. If you have extremely hard water, alternate between tap water and distilled water for use in the iron. 5 840096400 Ev02 6/18/02 10:18 AM Page 6 Caring for Your Iron Iron 1. The water tank of your iron should be emptied after each use. Turn Temperature Control Dial to Off. Unplug the power base and hold iron over a sink. Slowly tilt pointed end of iron down over sink. Water will run out of water tank opening. 2. After iron has completely cooled, wrap cord around the cord wrap and place the iron on the base. Do not store iron lying flat on soleplate. Troubleshooting Soleplate 1. Never iron over zippers, pins, metal rivets, or snaps, as these may scratch the soleplate. 2. To clean occasional build-up on the soleplate, wipe with a sudsy cloth.
