English WARNINGS • This EN-EL7e rechargeable battery is for use only with Nikon digital cam eras. • When recharging the EN-EL7e, use only the MH-56 bat tery charger. • Do not expose the battery to heat or fl ame. • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the battery. • Do not short the positive and neg a tive battery terminals with a metal object such as a necklace or keys. Use the supplied carrying case when transporting the battery. Failure to follow these instructions could cause the bat tery to leak corrosive liq uids, over heat, ex plode, or cause other dam age to the bat tery. Lamp state: (off), (on), (blinking) CHARGE LED Level LEDs Button When the button is pressed, all four level LEDs will light while the battery determines the charge. The level LEDs will then light to show the charge, turning off automatically after a few seconds. Level LEDs Charge (%) Description 100–81 Charge remaining: LEDs light as shown at left. 80–51 50–16 15–1 0 No charge remaining: Leftmost LED blinks. During charging, the current charge state is shown by the level and CHARGE LEDs: Level LEDs CHARGE LED Description On (orange) Charging: Level LEDs show current battery level. Errors If the CHARGE LED blinks after the button on the body of the EN-EL7e is pressed, one of the following errors has occurred: Level LEDs CHARGE LED Description Show battery level Blinks green for about 3 s Operating temperature range exceeded: Ambient temperature is outside of battery’s operating range. Blinks orange for about 3 s Battery can no longer be used: Battery can no longer hold a charge. Purchase new EN-EL7e battery. Blink green for about 5 s Blinks orange for about 5 s Battery error: Cease use and take battery to Nikon-authorized service representative for inspection. Precautions for Use .IMPORTANT After removing the battery from the camera for storage or transportation, be sure to place the battery in the supplied carrying case. Shorting the battery could result in leakage, fi re explosion, or other damage to the battery. • Do not connect the EN-EL7e to non-compatible devices. • See the camera Guide to Digital Photograpy for in for ma tion on re charg ing the prod uct, as well as for fur ther cau tions and warn ings that must be observed when re charg ing. • Before using the product for the fi rst time, or before using the product fol low ing an ex tend ed period of disuse, recharge the bat tery with the MH-56 battery charg er. • Do not use the battery at ambient temperatures below 0 °C (32 °F) or above 40 °C (104 °F). Failure to observe this precaution could damage the battery or impair its performance. • Recharge the battery at room temperature (5–35 .C / 41–95 .F). • Do not attempt to recharge a fully-charged battery. Failure to observe this precaution will re sult in reduced bat tery per for mance. • You may notice that the battery is hot di rect ly af ter use or recharging; this does not indicate a mal func tion. • In cold conditions, the battery may show a low charge level and require frequent recharging even when fully charged. It is recommended that you keep a fully-charged spare battery in a warm place and exchange as necessary when taking pictures in cold weather. • A marked drop in the time a fully-charged bat tery retains its charge at room tem per a ture in di cates that the bat tery needs to be re placed. Pur chase a new EN-EL7e bat tery. • If the battery will not be used for some time, run the battery fl at before stor ing it. • If the battery is kept in storage for a long pe ri od, charge the battery and then run it fl at again at least once a year. • Always remove the battery from the cam era or battery charger when not in use.
