1 Affected Procedures
As of RVU G06.23, you can use the Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) to extend the
destination control table (DCT) limit from 32,767 to 65,375. The DCT limit is the
maximum number of named processes and devices that the NonStop Kernel can
accommodate.
When the DCT limit is 32,767 (the default), each logical device number (ldev) needs
15 bits; when the DCT limit is 65,375, each ldev needs 16 bits. Changing the DCT limit
affects TAL and pTAL programs that call these C-series procedures under these
conditions:

If your TAL and pTAL programs have any affected procedure calls, do one of the
following to ensure that they will continue to run correctly as of RVU G06.23:
• Replace the calls to the C-series procedures with equivalent calls to D-series
procedures.
HP recommends this solution, because it does not require that you change the
programs again the next time the DCT limit is extended.
• Change the TAL and pTAL programs only enough to accommodate the extended
DCT.
This short-term solution will work only until the next time the DCT limit is extended,
when you must implement the preceding (recommended) solution.
• Do not extend the size of the DCT from 32,767 to 65,375 entries and do not
change your TAL and pTAL programs.
This solution is the default. It is appropriate if you are sure that you do not need
more than 32,767 named processes and devices on your system.
