HP NonStop™ NS-series servers
HP NonStop™ NS-series servers. The HP NonStop servers having product numbers
beginning with the letters NS. These servers implement the ServerNet architecture and
run the HP NonStop operating system.
HP NonStop™ S-series servers. The HP NonStop servers having product numbers
beginning with the letter S. These servers implement the ServerNet architecture and
run the HP NonStop operating system..
HP NonStop™ servers. The entire line of HP NonStop servers, including NonStop
NS-series and NonStop S-series servers.

LIF. logical interface (LIF).
logical interface (LIF). A process that allows an application or another process to
communicate with data communications hardware.
LT.
Line termination port on the SS7TE2 PIC. This is the “in port” for daisy-chaining
multiple PICs. The two-foot crossover cable goes from an NT port on one PIC to the LT
port on the next PIC. In addition, one LT port on a CCSA provides the receptacle for
the cable from the customer termination equipment. See also NT.
module. Part of the group, module, slot naming convention for uniquely identifying the
logical location of a component within a system. A module is a subset of a group, and it
is usually contained in an enclosure. A module contains one or more slots. A module
can consist of components sharing common interconnect, such as a backplane, or it
can be a logical grouping of components performing a particular function. See also
group.
NT.
Network termination port on the SS7TE2 PIC. This is “out port” for daisy-chaining
multiple PICs. See also LT.
physical interface. The hardware components that connect a system node to a network.
PIC. See plug-in card (PIC).
PIF. See physical interface.
pifid. The name or number for a PIF. pifid is a variable assigned during configuration.
plug-in card (PIC). A replaceable component that provides a unique function when
installed in a customer-replaceable unit (CRU) or field-replaceable unit (FRU). For
example, PICs for modular ServerNet expansion boards (MSEBs) and I/O multifunction
(IOMF) 2 CRUs provide a choice of connection media for attaching ServerNet cables.
